    Scouting the Jets' Offense

I was able to catch most of New Jersey B's game against the Pats this week and I noticed a few things.

First, their run offense is terrible. Run D is our Achilles heel, but if we can keep them relatively in check we should be able to win. The Bills D slowed down Ronnie Brown, who is clearly superior to Kevin Barlow. The Jets' OL is probably better than Miami's but their inexperience showed.

Second, their offense is incredibly predictable. On running plays, there was little to no motion in the backfield. On passing plays, there was tons of motion in the backfield and a lot of their plays were screens from bunch formations. It's almost like they were saying "We know we can't block you, so we're just gonna let you come then lob it over your head." The Bills D should make sure not to blitz from the same side as the "bunch" in their offensive formation and should have the screens scouted.

Third, the Jets' receivers can FLY and have great YAC ability. I'm not too concerned about the deep ball because of Pennington's arm, but bad tackling could hurt the Bills like it did to the Pats during the Jets' attempted comeback. Tackling on the WR's and in the running game will be key to shutting down the Jets' offense.

And in Pennington's defense, he did seem to make good decisions as far as where to go with the ball. The Bills will need to get pressure in the passing game to disrupt him so he doesn't nickle-and-dime us to death. But bast on last week's performance, I don't see that being a huge issue (particularly if Spikes returns).

with curtis martin, teams would put 7or more in the box and dare chadwix to beat them with those quacking passes, which he couldn't do. that's why bollinger gave you more problems. he could move better, throw better, and was better vertically even while on the move. he was not as vulnerable to a rush/blitz. but, he's in minny now.

so, you shut down the dink and dunk stuff, don't really have to worry about the run, and just tee off on noodle arm. unless losman does something stupid, sad to say it, but you should win.

basically, if you surround chadwix with a superior team , he can get you into the playoffs, but you won't go far once you get there. sort of like a marty-ball team, which is ironic since his son is now the off. coord for the jets.

      Who's New Jersey B's?
I didn't come here to fight, I hate fighting. Life is way too short to spend it on fighting! Go fight with yourself, one of you will eventually win!

maybe he meant the new york bellicheks, since the rebuild is designed to copy the pats player formula, including hiring one of his assistants to be the head coach, and bring over their defensive system with him.

wow, for a Jets fan you sure are hating on Pennington. He's a smart player but definitely has limitations. All the shoulder problems didn't help his already weak arm.

The dink and dunk stuff won't be there- the Bills D is just too fast. If Chad's arm is up to it, the Jets should test the rookie safeties in the middle of the field. They seemed to play well last week, but Culpepper didn't have many chances to throw it downfield.

So who is NY'S "A" Team?

the "A" and "B" distinction isn't necessary in New York since there's only one football team that plays in the state: the Buffalo Bills.
