Anyone know anything about him? Is he any good, or just one of those guys you sign to see if they can make a run at backup? If he is any good, then I think we will be leaning more towards DT in the draft cuz we have Jones.

His sack numbers are more consitent than Chidi averageing 8 sacks a year. He better just be a back up. He would be a good back up but I would not want to see him starting. He is a backup by trade too. Played in 89 games but started only 27. He has 2nd string written all over him. I hope.

He's a solid player, not a superstar obviously. He should be a good addition.

I think you know what I mean. I'm glad to have him as a back up but we need to get a better than just McKenzie.

obviously mckenzie is just like chidi.. we can use him in case of an injury, or for a 3rd down pass rusher.. but lets not pretend that TD and GW think he is the solution to our pass rushing needs.. they saw a good value in a pretty productive player that can add quality depth to our team... i would rather have him than chidi, who is a FA as well. i think this spells the end for him though.

I think right now there is a chance he's Buffalo's third best DE. The best is probably Marcus Jones. You can tell from his last name, which coincidently is the same as mine LOL. The second best is probably Schobel. That means of the top three DEs, two weren't here last season. That spells improvement in my book. It's probably not enough, but I think the news is going to get better as free agency continues.

An instinctive player possessing a great feel for working off the corners of blockers as a pass rusher, he also has enough linebacker skill - a position he played for three years in college - to drop off into pass coverage

With 4 career postseason sacks, is tied with Sean Jones for the second-most in Green Bay playoff history, trailing only the 8 of White

Paced Green Bay in sacks during the preseason each of his first two years in the NFL, also leading the entire NFL in 1996

Was utilized primarily as a situational rush end and on special teams during his initial two seasons before assuming a more integrated role in 1998

Limited to seven games in 2001 with Cleveland after suffering an injury

Recorded 142 tackles (97 solo) over his seven-year career

i talked to my friend, who is an cleveland fan.. and when i say fan, i mean like many of us.. the guy has like 13 jerseys of different players, studies the draft like a grad class, remembers the entire roster from years ago..ect ect.. just trying to build his credibility.. regardless, i respect his opinion very much..

i asked him what he thought of the guy.. he said that his first year in cleveland, 2000 i think.. he started all 16 games.. and had 8 sacks.. he said the guy can definately get to the qb.. he had alot of pressures to go with his 8 sacks.. he also said that the majority of his 8 sacks came early in the season, and that he definately wore down as a full time player/starter. he was not in a rotating system in cleveland..

he said that he got cut after getting hurt. he signed a decent sized deal when he came to cleveland, so they were not going to keep him around at that price. he also stated that he would take him back in a heartbeat, and was hoping the browns would pick him back up..

he is not good against the run. he said he gets pushed around at the point of attack if he is not going full steam at the qb, ie. playing the run/containment.

he said he thought he would be the perfect fit, if healthy, in what looks to be a rotating de spot, in an "attacking" defense..

basically he said he is a speed rusher good to bring in if you want to get after the qb.

he should be looked at as an improvement over a guy like Kendrick Office...we went from FA pick up with practically no experience in Office to 7 year veteran who has played in the playoffs and has 29 career sacks...call it what you want but I call it TD improving our roster.

I did a little checking on McKenzie. CouchScout.com lists him as a RDE. Good thing because the left is a little crowded with Jones and Schobel. He played linebacker in college and is experienced in dropping back in coverage (from the official Green Bay Packers website). Can that be a sign that TD still expects LeBeau to come on board and add a little zone blitzing to the Bills defensive package? He's had some injury problems which limited his production the last couple years. Green Bay released him early in January, which is why Buffalo could sign him now. Couch Scout doesn't have him rated terribly high, but he's got pretty good speed (under 4.7 40). One spot where Buffalo has had no speed is RDE. Ahanotu runs about a 4.95 and Kendrick Office runs the 40 in over 5. I think Denney clocks at around 4.8 but hasn't yet figured out how to shed a block, which means he can't run at all when he's playing. A positive move over all by TD.

office will not be tendered a contract so he is as good as gone

Good signing, TD!

I heard about this last night before I went to work and I was pretty pleased. This is why we didn't tender Office and is a good move, IMO. Don't think of him as the next Bruce Smith....think of him as an upgrade from Kendrick Office..because that is who he replaced. :D

Philster, I got it backwards. McKenzie is listed as a LDE, Schobel and Jones will be on the right side. I'm so confused. LOL

I'm wondering if they may use him as a OLB since he played it in College.

Keith Mckenzie may make a fast impact.
Matter of fact he may start if someone may slack.
