    ESPN Week 4 Power Rankings

    2006 Power Rankings: Week 4
    RK (LW)TEAMRECCOMMENT
1 (1)Colts3-0-0Good win for a team that's beat up and clearly didn't play its best football. Peyton Manning made just enough plays.
2 (3)Bengals3-0-0Marvin Lewis said Odell Thurman's DUI arrest 'is not going to affect our football team.' That might be true, but at some point all the off-field issues are going to bite the Bengals.
3 (2)Seahawks3-0-0Going into Chicago without arguably the NFL's best running back is not what the Seahawks had in mind.
4 (6)Bears3-0-0Rex Grossman probably will have more bumpy games, but with the Bears defense, it might not matter.
5 (7)Chargers2-0-0They won't go one-on-one, but Shawne Merriman and Ray Lewis on the same field this Sunday should be fun to watch.
6 (8)Ravens3-0-0Offense isn't exactly on fire, but that was a game they wouldn't have won without Steve McNair.
7 (4)Jaguars2-1-0Maurice Jones-Drew looks really good. He was impressive against the Colts, putting up 103 yards on 13 carries.
8 (12)Broncos2-1-0Javon Walker is starting to look pretty good in a Broncos uniform. He flashed his big-play ability Sunday night against the Patriots.
9 (5)Falcons2-1-0When Michael Vick is contained, and he was Monday against the Saints, the Falcons are obviously going to struggle on offense.
10 (15)Eagles2-1-0Watching a defensive tackle run with the ball like Mike Patterson did has to be one of the best things in football.
11 (10)Patriots2-1-0It's easy to dissect and read too much into things, but Tom Brady just doesn't look quite right.
12 (9)Steelers1-2-0It's understandable that Ben Roethlisberger is still a little rusty. That said, the Steelers need him to start playing better now.
13 (13)Cowboys1-1-0Just in case you didn't know, it's 12 days and counting until T.O.'s return to Philly.
14 (17)Saints3-0-0Emotion was obviously a huge part of it, but the simple fact was that the Saints were just the better team Monday.
15 (14)Vikings2-1-0A 2-1 start would have to be considered a success in Minnesota. But they were so close to 3-0 and Brad Childress is already taking some heat for his play calling.
16 (11)Giants1-2-0Sure, Jeremy Shockey sort of apologized for his comments the other days. Still, just a hunch on our part, but things could get ugly in New York pretty fast.
17 (18)Rams2-1-0If the Rams keep playing defense like they are, they're going to be in contention in the NFC all season. They're already plus-seven in turnover differential.
18 (16)Panthers1-2-0Pretty easy to see how much better the Panthers are on offense when Steve Smith is in the offense.
19 (22)Jets2-1-0As long as Chad Pennington can stay healthy, the Jets are going to be a lot better than most people thought.
20 (24)Redskins1-2-0Pretty obvious that the Redskins are a totally different offensive team with Clinton Portis on track.
21 (21)Dolphins1-2-0Is there anyone out there killing more fantasy teams than Daunte Culpepper?
22 (19)Cardinals1-2-0Nothing is going to get you a seat faster than turning the ball over and Kurt Warner did that way too much -- enter Matt Leinart.
23 (20)Bills1-2-0J.P. Losman actually seems like he might be the QB of the future in Buffalo.
24 (26)Chiefs0-2-0A home game against the 49ers should be a good remedy for the Chiefs coming off their bye.
25 (25)49ers1-2-0Frank Gore has been really good, but three fumbles in three games is too many. He'll start losing carries if that keeps up.
26 (30)Packers1-2-0Rookie wide receiver Greg Jennings really seems like he's going to be a player.
27 (23)Buccaneers0-3-0Amazing in the NFL how quickly a team can go from a playoff contender to staring a four or five-win season right in the face.
28 (28)Browns0-3-0You can question letting Charlie Frye throw the ball at the end of the game, but at some point you have to trust your players to make plays.
29 (27)Lions0-3-0Not a good start for team that some were picking to ride no-nonsense coach Rod Marinelli right into contention
30 (31)Titans0-3-0Kerry Collins' solid play Sunday might have held off the Vince Young debut for at least another week.
31 (31)Texans0-3-0Gary Kubiak called out Mario Williams and the rest of the defense. It's early in Williams' career, but this clearly isn't the kind of start he or the Texans would have hoped for
32 (32)Raiders0-2-0The Raiders can say Aaron Brooks will get his job back when he's healthy. But the reality is Andrew Walter shouldn't have to do too much to hold onto the job.

How does Buffalo, who beat Miami in Miami, get ranked below the Dolphins. I was watching the Miami game because it was next to the Bills. Maimi was my suicide pick and they almost lost to the Titans at home. Are they nuts?!

No joke. They barely survived the Titans at home, and we beat them at their house, yet we rank lower.

for five long years, teams in the nfl searched for somebody who could shut down the k.c. chiefs high-powered, high-scoring offense.

we finally found him- his name is preacher herm edwards.

who gives a rats patuti if miami is ranked higher in week 3? Miami is gonna be like a junk bond by week 16 and we will continue to grow and improve. JP is on the way up and Pep is a shell of his former self.

At least the rankings guys are starting to admitt that JP has the talent. THat is a major admission on their part.
