Why is this guy still inactive? He's not injured from anywhere I've seen. He's been inactive all this time due to a death in the family.

It's sad whenever somebody loses a close family member but he has to get his ass on the field. This is a wasted season for him. He hasn't had any kind of practice and hasn't even been participating in the games.

If my parents or somebody else close to me died I wouldn't be able to take off a couple months of work and let alone still be paid for it. Sorry about your misfortune but it happens to all of us. He's being paid and he needs to get his ass back to this team and learn something.

Any type of success for him is done for the year but he could still learn a lot to help towards next year or later in the season in a Dime Package role.

Anybody who orignally thought we could get rid of Clements after this season because we drafted Youboty isn't the case anymore. We defintely need Nate back next year and Youboty needs to join the team.

Like I said, I'm sorry about your mourning but all these other players are on the field shortly after their misfortune. Hell, Brett Farve played the next night after his father died.

I think he can play, but he's not needed right now unless there was an injury. Thomas and Greer have done a decent job so there's no need to activate him. This year could be a learning year for him and he'll just have to be ready in case an injury occurs.

"He isnt ready yet"

"He was drafted as a project"

"You have to be understanding"

Those are all explinations I have gotten when asking about it.

Reggie Wayne played well after his brother got shot and killed last week.

He is a 3rd round draft pick. He could defintely be needed. Even if he wasn't needed then it still isn't an excuse for him not to be active on the team.

We don't need a lot of players right now but it doesn't mean we leave them inactive. He could be learning a lot of stuff and instead he's not even there. There's no reason to be inactive. This wasn't a 7th round draft pick. He could definitely be used at times. There is a reason behind it and not just because "we don't need him"

Those are all crappy explanations.

Projects are drafted all the time and are still active on the team. There isn't many 3rd round "projects". Them are left for late round draft picks.

We have been plenty understanding. That doesn't last for over a month though.

the coaches probably dont feel comfortable enough with him yet since he missed most of training camp. I bet he starts to get more time on the field towards the end of the season.

Reggie Wayne is a vet who knows his teams offense. Youboty is a rookie who missed half of training camp. Not a good comparison.

Wow, the guy loses his mom and lets just get his ass out on the field. Real ****ing classy. He will get out there when he is ready.

" He missed most all of training camp, due to a unique family tragedy " is a viable explanation.

I'm sure later in the year, they'll slowly get him some playing time. Not making excuses for the guy but he wasn't going to do more than drink gatorade anyhow these past 4 weeks. Much ado about nothing

I think he is inactive because he is the Bills 5th best corner right now. Thomas and Greer are better than he is at this time.

Exactly. And keep in mind that if we make him active, another player has to become inactive. All the other players are contributing enough to want to keep them active. Kiwaukee Thomas has been a surprising find and is playing very well. He and McGee will likely move to the #1 and # 2 CBs on the team as Nate leaves next year (unless he takes a huge pay cut which I doubt he will).

If the secondary is doing well with what we have, why mess with it? Just b'cse he's a 3rd rd pick? C'mon!!!

When we lose somebody in our family we have 3 days to get over it and get our ass back to work. Is that classy of our companies?

He didn't lose his mom last week. He's had 2 months. I only wish I could get 2+ months off when one of my parents go. Myself and everyone else will have 3 days. If we get approved for an extension we won't be getting a paycheck.

He's had plenty of time. He's not the only NFL player who has lost a parent. None of them took 2 months off.

We could get 2 months off of work at our jobs too but we would no longer have a job anymore.

He has not had 2 months off. He is with the team and practicing. He is inactive. THat is no different than Shaud Williams or Brad Dutler being inactive.

He missed most of training camp right off the bat because of it. And he's inactive because he can't get his mind on his work.

If he's inactive because he's not even good enough to make the weekly roster then this was a terrible draft pick especially when we could've taken an OG that would definitely be helping us a lot more. That's even worse if he's just not good enough. Especially when many here talked about what a steal he was and how he should've been a 1st round draft pick.

Whatever the reason is it's not good when a 3rd round draft pick can't even make the weekly roster.

you realize that there are only maybe 3-5 third round picks from the 2006 Draft making any kind of contribution to their team 4 games in dont you ?

At least they can make the team.

Dude, he is a ROOKIE. CB is one of the toughest positions to learn. He is raw. To say he is a terrible pick because he has not been active for the first 4 games of his career is jumping to conclusions.

He also missed 3 weeks of camp, hindering his development. The Bills also have other CB's (Thomas and Greer) that are playing well. Very well. He is inactive, in part, to those guys playing well.

Give the guy a break. Trying to evaluate a 3rd pick after 4 games is ludicrous.

I don't expect him to be DeAngelo Hall right now but you would expect him to at least be good enough to make the game roster and be able to contribute anything even if it was on ST's.

I'm not declaring him a bum for the rest of his career. I never said that. I would just expect him to at least be able to make the roster.

We're already two DB's short on the roster now that we expected to have a month ago with Matt Bowen being injured and Vincent being put on the IR. You would think he would be good enough to at least contribute something.

The injuries are a moot point as those were to Safeties.

I am more pleased that Greer (who is very solid on ST's) and Thomas (playing well as the nickel back) are doing well. Part of the reason he is inactive might be more due them than Youboty himself.

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Did I call him a bust for his entire career, Mr. Kiper? This isn't the BZFL.

I said it isn't a good sign when he can't make the active roster and missed most of training camp. This is a guy that most of you and probably including yourself said was a steal and could possibly start in place of Clements next year because all the internet experts had him projected to be a 1st round draft pick.

I stated what many were thinking but some don't have the guts to say because it might hurt the feelings of people like you who can't handle any discouraging remarks about anything involving our team.

So because somebody isn't happy about a player at any certain point in time then in your theory and opinion they consider them a bum for the rest of their career.

How's this then?

Youboty has a lot to learn still but he has the potential to be the next Champ Bailey and take over for Clements at a much cheaper price in a year or two. Does that make you happy now?

Most 3rd round picks doesn't amount to anything. There will only be a handful out of this draft that does.

Not making the roster yet isn't a good sign but it doesn't mean somebody thinks he will never amount to anything and be released in 2 years. Sorry to hurt your feelings that you can't decipher the meaning.

And the basis of the post was that the guy still isn't on the field and the reason listed is because of personal reasons pertaining to a death in his family. Did I say he can't make the field because he shouldn't be in the NFL.

I stated that a death in the family shouldn't keep you out of work and hurt your job performance for 2 months when everyone else is playing and getting on with their lives a week later. I guess you decipher that as saying that he will never be any good. To each opinion his own.

the death of a parent can send some people into a deep depression for years and make them incapable of functioning at any level, Im glad this guy has the advantage of being in a career wher he could take off severla weeks to deal with his family responsibilities, but he has been in Buffalo practicing everday since before teh start of the season so your claim he has taken 2 months off is wrong

He's been practicing with the team since August and has just been inactive. Are you thinking he's still gone from the team ??? That's how it reads.

He was gone for 2-3 weeks because he's financially responsible for like 10 people in his family from Liberia and it was a unique situation. He's been back here for well over a month, practicing every day.

I lost a parent over 20 years ago. I'm still depressed. The following week after his death I was back at school though and that's the way to handle it. If you sit around and adjust your life around your depression you are doing the wrong thing. Not saying it isn't hard to lose a parent, I know how hard it is. But I think Fever has a legitamate question here. The kid is not on the roster. Of those third round picks you posted how many are on a roster?

Wow, can't believe you realized that. "phew" Thanks for making me realize that every 3rd round pick isn't setting the world on fire.

I never said he was a bust already. For some reason you are reading stuff I didn't type.

If you don't agree that somebody shouldn't be back to work on a regular basis after 2 months then I wish you were my employer. Don't make up stuff.

This has nothing to do with being overly optimistic like you or not expecting everything to be peaches and cream like me. Anything bad said must make you that mad where you automatically think the person says he will always be a bum.

I feel 2 months is a sufficient amount of time. You feel it's acceptable. Just because it's your opinion doesn't make one right or wrong. I didn't have 2 months to get focused on work after a hard death in my family when I was his age.

When we have a death in our family when we return to work in 3 days we have to be back to our usual work performance shortly after.

He's had 2 months and he's listed inactive because of a death in the family. That means it's still affecting his performance and focus. That means if not for that he would be playing. And I gurantee you if not for the death he would be on the roster.

Sure I could show up at my job after the death but if I just sat in the office and didn't excel at my job over it they would have a problem with it. They're not gonna pay me just to show up.

Like I said, I'm stating the reason coming out of OBD. Don't ***** at me about it, ***** at them if you're not happy with the reason.

If it had nothing to do with the death then there wouldn't be a reason for him being inactive. They don't list reasons for Brad Butler being inactive. It's because Butler isn't ready to play with the big boys. By them stating this reason for Youboty's inactiveness that's the only thing to go by. I didn't send the official report.

Months upon months of time off due to a death is a very unhealthy situation. It's inappropriate. However, sometimes people do have additional personal commitments when losing a loved one that deem they need more time. But just bereavement time for two months indicates there is a serious psychological problem with this player. I'm not saying that's the case but I can see where Fever's misunderstanding is coming from.

BillsFever21

Well I've suffered hard deaths at that age too and I had to go about my work when I came back like nothing happened.

It wasn't my opinion that he's not on the field due to his mothers death. That was the report out of OBD why he's inactive. I brought it up and felt this shouldn't be affecting his performance. You couldn't handle it and flew off the deep end.

So I'm a cold heartless bastard for saying the information that OBD gave for his absense? I'm not the publicst for OBD. Cry to him/her.

It doesn't help the situation to mourn the sorrow and let it affect your work for 2 months.

OBD stated he's inactive because of the death. But because I stated their report and felt it shouldn't still be affecting his status on the team I'm a cold heartless bastard.

It's not my opinion he's not playing because of a death. It's a fact from OBD or they wouldn't send out that report. I just feel 2 months is excessive and like you said it isn't healthy for a person to still be affecting him.

I've lost loved ones. I was back to work and had to perform like usual like everybody else who got on with their lives. If it's still affecting him it's an underlying problem that he needs help with.

But I'm a cruel heartless bastard for stating OBD's report and feeling it shouldn't still be affecting his job. To each his own.

I think you are taking his "inactive" status in the wrong way. While you think he's inactive b'cse he's still dealing with the death in the family, I think he's remained inactive b'cse of the stepped up play of Kiwaukee Thomas and Greer. If the current personnel are playing great, why would you want to mess with that by inserting someone who had to miss some time in the early training camp and might be a bit behind?

Why make a change when the current group is working so well together?

why then, does he keep saying he wants to play and on a lot of occasions it's the coaching staff holding him back? maybe, unlike us, they EXPECT to make the playoffs and want to have a better chance of having him on the field then. The staff isn't going to bench him if he can play....sorry NO!

I think we see him vs NE at home, maybe Detroit. I think NE at home or after the Bye is more likely. I think we will beat Detroit, maybe lose to chicago and NE is 50/50. But if we are 3-4 going into the bye the weakest part of our schedule is on the other side and we can still make a solid run. That may be the reason we the staff and TKO both aren't so anxious to get him back out there yet.

I just want to sing "Shake, shake, shake... Shake, shake, shake.. Shake Youboty" after his first good play.

Did anyone ever think the kid just isnt' ready period? Death no death, maybe he just isn't up to speed as a player in general?

That's exactly what it is. He's just a rook, and he wasn't all-world at OSU or anything.
