buy season tickets and its not nearly as expensive. But yes, I bought 2 tickets in the 300's. After ticketing fees, it was 84 a pop. Thats a lot of money.

I was thinking about going to a Sabre game this year until I looked at how much tickets were. Even the Silver, Bronze, Value tickets are not that cheap. Yankee tickets are not that expensive.

When did tickets go on sale for the home opener?

They did not raise prices this year.

I have seasons in the 300's as well. $21 a ticket.

How come Hockey is so expensive? Because no TV contract to pay the players?

Out of the 3 sports I like NFL, MLB, NHL it looks like football has the cheapest ticket.

When good seats for a Yankee game are around $100 I would never expected a good seat at a Sabre game be over $100.

If one chose to do that, it would certainly be their prerogative, but I don't think anyone is saying that. I just think it is poor to ask that a franchise to open their coffers to keep an almost Cup winning squad together, but whine about prices going up. The money has to come from somewhere.

Very true! It's just like the Bills...everybody wants them to stay, but nobody wants them to raise tickets prices, which, by the way, are the lowest in the league.

Let's not get overly dramatic here. If TD can afford to pay $100 to see the Yankees, then her sure as hell can do the same to see the Sabres. Or he can buy a cheaper ticket.

Well, that's him..seemed like pyrrhonist was directing his post at anyone who can't afford to go to Sabres games...and for some of us, it's just too damn expensive. Even the lower priced games have a problem...they're on weeknights most of the time....which is why they're lower priced than they would be if hey scheduled the same opponent on a weekend.

I couln't get the $100 seats at Yankee Stadium. I went to the website the day tickets came out and every thing good was sold out already. Ticket brokers suck, they want double the amount for a ticket.

My whole point was, if im driving 3 hours I would like to sit in good seats. I've never looked up hockey ticket prices before and it just was a shocker on how much they were when I finally did look up the price.

I never been to HSBC arena so I wouldn't know that the 300 seats are actually good seats.

don't you think it's kind of hippocritical to spout around the Bills boards about how the only real fans go out to all the games and tailgate...and then come over here and say you don't go to the games and your a fan? It doesn't matter what the scenario is Phil you can't pass judgement on people like that...what's good for one thing is good for the other...unless it's just a self-serving convenience thing you use to rationalize spending the money on Bills games when you can't afford to go to college. You could go sniffing around the Jills pubic appearances much cheaper than going to the bills games to see them.

oh come on Phil. I know you are much more central in your attitude but I've seen you fall in with the "go to the games you are the real fan" crowd. You're right though...you aren't a radical like some and you are much more reasonable in your attitude. But still, don't you think you are a better fan because you go to the games?

The_Philster
10-07-2006, 08:11 AM
Better fan, no? If one can't afford it or lives too far or has some other good reason not to go, then it's understandable that some people don't go to games. But a fan who makes it to every game is certainly a dedicated fan. Believe me, I can appreciate it if your family life or money stop you from going...I'd make it to every Sabres game if I could afford it as well......going to a sporting event in Buffalo is a great experience..Bills, Sabres, Bandits...but it gets expensive too. I don't think of myself as a better fan for going to all the Bills home games...it's not a long drive for me and on a Sunday afternoon, I can't think of a better thing in the world to do. Fans like Jan Reimers and Kenny..who either make long drives to the Bills games...or go to every game for 201 straight...not better...but the most dedicated I've ever seen.

Jeez guys, I didn't mean to start a war amongst posters here!

I never once meant to insinuate that you must attend each and every game. I was, however, shocked at the fact that there would be outcry against the raising of prices. With escalating salaries must also come higher ticket prices. That still doesn't mean every fan is obligated to buy season tickets, though.

the prices are certainly high...but this sales team for the sabres is pretty brilliant in my opinion...

they are really making it an easy choice to buy season tix and split with folks...even f you want to go to 3 or 4 games a year...

i'm going to three and i got my tix from a season ticket holder who was looking to sell a few games...

going sat against the rangers in the 300s...$21/each....would have been over $40 if I bought them individually...

plus with the gold, silver, bronze, value tiers...they've added a new element really not seen in professional sports...it absolutely makes sense...
