The Bills face the Lions this week in Detroit. The Bills might have had a dissmal day in Chicago last week, but the Lions are coming off a 5 game losing streak to include giving up the lead to Vikings early in the 4th quarter in Sunday.

Statistically, the Lions offense is averaging 40 yards more then the Bills have on offense a game this season, but on defense, the Bills have a much more dominating squad. That is when they were a healthly squad.

The optimist in me believes that Buffalo should and will bounce back in Detroit pulling their heads just above water on the schedule again, but it's history that has me saying all of the above with quivering confidence.

The Bills have several injuries on defense to overcome. And the offense will be working hard to overcome adversity after a horrible showing in Chicago. It's obvious that McCargo, and Bowen will not play, while seeing Clements on Ford Field is a most likely event. However, the likes of seeing Takeo reemerge before the bye week has some fans less than optimisitc.

This game will be a true test to Buffalo's ability and may very well give insight to the direction the rest of the season is headed. If the offense fails to turn things around against the Lions 28th currently ranked defense, then we are left to assume that the game against the Bears has carried farther then the doors of the Chicago locker room. Losman will more than likely be sharing the majority of spotlight lying beneath the microscope. Having coughed up 4 turnovers on Sunday has us all wondering if he can take his game to the next level and drive forward in a way that a true NFL QB should. Especially since the Lions pass defense ranks a putrid 29th in the league having given up over 260 yards a game through the air and they're bottom of the league in allowing passing TDs (11).

The Lions OL have already given up 19 sacks this season and just might be a little worse then ours, with the injury to Villirral. But the problems that Buffalo has experienced on stopping the run may continue as Lions RB Kevin Jones still looks to break 100 yrd rushing day this season. The injury plagued Bills D might offer Jones some assitance to alleviate his struggle. And that could allow Jon Kitna enough time to get his receiving corp aligned and steady for the first time this season.

In short, this should be (but will most likely not be) an easy game for Buffalo. They need a spark to send them over the edge in this game. While it would be nice to see that spark on offense, it could prove more feasible to see it on defense. A Takeo comback might just be what the doctor ordered (pun intended).
