I thought he was a miracle worker.

He's not doing to bad with the whole pass blocking thing..it's just "running the ball" that gets him.

Pass protection has been 50-50. Willis has had moderate success running to the left, little or none to the right or in short yardage.

Hopefully the line will get better the longer they play together, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I expected a better performance overall from McNally and his units.

Miracle worker? Don't think so.

Damn good offensive line coach? Hell, yes.

Ever stop to think that, even though they're not that good, they're still a heck of a lot better than they would be if most of the other OL coaches in the league were coaching them?!

even the best chef can't make chicken salad out of chicken ****.

I was hoping for more out of McNally too, but the FO hasn't given him much to work with.

Levy will address that in the next offseason. He believes in winning games from the trenches. This year he put stock in the defense. Offense next year.

you could be right about that.

But I do see one serious flaw in that strategy: we're attempting to find out of JP is worth anything this year, correct? Well, with such a horrid OL it makes it more difficult to evaluate him.

He has been here for 3-4 years and our Oline has been awful, he is the one who tells the coachs who to draft on the Oline he has really only developed 2 players Duke Preston and Jason Peters both average at best

By the same token, if JP does decent with this OL, he'll be really good with a better OL.

He could be telling the FO who to draft, but the highest draft pick they gave him was a 5th and a 7th this year. Can't fault him for that.

No not at all and i was shocked at how long it took the team to draft any Olineman, Dylan McFarland, Justin Geislinger, Brad Butler, terrance Pennington, Aaron Merz, none of them were taken before the 5th round

I just don't know how much real talent we have on the O line. Peters may be very good in time, but he's still young and raw. The other 4 starters seem like journeymen to me - none of them is particularly well-regarded around the league. Preston is a 2nd year guy and the other 3 backups are low draft pick rookies.

I'm afraid McNally is trying to make silk purses out of a sow's ears, and the sows are refusing to cooperate.

The draft was based on who was available, I think Marv did great. Donte is learning but is a gamer.

good teams have the luxury of picking "best player available". Bad/rebuilding teams have to consider needs as well as best player available.

Let's not forget that aside from new players, it's a new offense.Yet, this OL is already better than last years and I believe it will get better.

Aside from McNally, the other OL coach considered to be aguably just as good if not better than McNAlly is Houck. His OL blows compared to ours. I guess it just takes time.
