Veteran defensive tackle Lional Dalton (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4575), who started 14 games for the Kansas City Chiefs (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=kan) in 2005, has been released, in part because the team wanted to create a spot for cornerback Michael Bragg, but also because he was not a good fit in a scheme that demands quicker linemen.

Dalton, 31, could quickly generate interest around the league, because there are a number of teams looking for interior defenders.
A ninth-year veteran, Dalton, at 6-feet-1 and 315 pounds, is a proven run-stopper. But he appeared in only two games for the Chiefs this season, because Edwards' defense is a one-gap scheme that places a premium on penetration. Dalton is more a classic, two-gap defender.
The Chiefs added veteran free agents James Reed (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5654) and Ron Edwards (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5523) in the offseason, players with whom Edwards was familiar and who are a better fit, and the tandem has started all four games. Dalton did not have a tackle or a sack in either of his appearances.

Would we be interested in a guy that Ron Edwards beat out? Actually , Edwards would be a good rotational DT but is often injured.

PS- Dalton looks like Fletcher-Baker

Sounds like the main reason was the scheme they run (part of the reason we got rid of Sam Adams). I just thought it was interesting considering DT was being hotly discussed earlier.

I'm just not familiar with the guy or whether he fits our scheme. He sounds intriguing though. If only we knew what's going through Masrv and Dicks thoughts on our lack of a run stop D. I know they're sold on the cover 2 but it isn't working when it comes to the run game.

Here is my thought: Our coaches want small and quick lineman to burst through the line and harrass the QB. Well thusfar, that hasn't been happening. So why not go out and get a run stopper? It's only going to help our run game.

I think Dalton would make a lot of sense for you guys, at least as inside help on run downs for this season. It isn't often an experienced guy comes loose in October that can help your team at a position of need.

As for fitting the defensive scheme, Indy is reportedly very interested in him and they play the Tampa-2 as well. Like the Bills, they are struggling against the run because they lost their space-eater, Corey Simon, to injury. If he fits there, I don't see why he can't fit in Buffalo as well.

And at 315 he would be one of our biggest linemen if not the biggest

He's definitely worth a look, especially considering McCargo is hobbled.

I don't know much about him. The line about him being dumped by KC b/c their scheme favors quicker lineman doesn't sound like he'd be a fit here now. But if what NE39 is saying is true about Indy being interested, perhaps I'm wrong. 315 is big, but its not Sam Adams big. hmmm
