Sorry football fans, I know this is technically a Sabres question (I asked this in the Sabres forum too), but this is pretty important stuff.

They are saying on Toronto radio up here that the Sabres game may be cancelled on Saturday due to the fact that Buffalo is practically in a State of Emergency. Anyone have any news on that? What's it really like down there? I hope you are all ok!

I doubt it- they have a day and a half to dig out still.

Well no, I didn't think so, but the radio stations seem to be freakin' out about it (WGR included!)

ha no but there's rarely this much of it this early so they weren't prepared.

THe bigger problem was that all the trees still have the leaves on them, so the snow caused a lot of big branches to fall, block roadways, take out power lines, etc.

I had a similar problem here August of last year.

They got two feet and have over 150,000 people without power.

They need to get to Detroit first, and the last blurb I heard was that game wasn't canceled yet.

If they play in Detroit, they'll play in Toronto.

They got 2-4 inches of wet, heavy snow on Thursday, knocking down trees and power lines, clogging some roads, and closing the airport for a time. But it's Buffalo. They'll be ready Saturday - if it doesn't snow again.

Umm, Toronto? What do you mean? They'd move the game?

The media are a bunch of friggin' alarmists who overhype everything.

I wonder if somebody at Sabres.com saw my thread; they have a note there saying that the game is still planned as scheduled.

thruway is opened up, and i would expect the rest to follow suit..... temps of the low 50's to upper 40's expected during the day will melt some of the snow........ and from what ive seen withthe rangers...... they already travelled.

The snow is not the problem. Power and clear roadways are, in addition to water as there are water shortages.
