The real reason this team has sucked for the last 7-8 years.
Here is who the Bills drafted with their first pick the last seven years:

06-Whitner -s
05-Parrish- wr
04-Evans -wr
03- McGahee-rb
02- Fat Mikey -RIGHT ot
01- Clements- cb
00- Flowers- de

Here is who they could have drafted, in order:

Ngata- dt
A. Terry- rot
T. Harris- dt
Steinbach- og
McKinnie- LEFT ot
Hutchinson- og
D. Howard de

The real reason the Billls suck is they don't draft big men early and when they actually did {twice} they were classic flops. Baby Mikey and Flowers.
The Bills so called braintrust doesn't yet, in 46 years of business, understand the game is won in the trenches. It doesn't matter who plays rb,wr,db if your lines SUCK.

You know the 'stats *******s' Keep throwing up stats about how you don't need Round 1 talent on the OL and DL. Well....looks like 'stats' are for ****. Marv needed to get Ngata on that damn DL with the #8 and didn't. He should have traded backup to get whitner if possible.

All that aside, It is more clear cut than ever this OL sucks ass and needs REAL talent. Marvs 'small DL' Bull **** isn't flying either. It works when you have a TOP FIRST ROUND TALENT like Tommie Harris there, not with a guy like Tim Anderson.

They are playing the Tampa-2. The only problem they failed to address is they don't have a pass rush to sit back in their two deep. I don't see a S. Rice coming off the edge. I see overrated Schobel and two NFL backups on the other side. No need to even get into the lack of bulk and stopping the run.
Whitner is a nice player but you need to get the best big man available when you have the 8th pick.

The problem with drafting linemen that early is that you tie up a lot of cap room.

So what. The problem if you don't draft lineman early is you have rejects like Gandy starting at your most important o-line position. Left tackles are well worth the cap room tied up.
Also since were at it, shift Peters to the left side and put one of the rookies in at right tackle.

So? The moral of the story is that we don't need TOP NOTCH offensive talent to be productive if we have superior offensive and defensive lines. A good offensive line will make a mediocre RB look good. But a great RB won't consistently make his line look good.

If you miss with a fat tub of goo like Mike Williams, you are screwed for years by the cap.

Plus there is less money left for the "skill players"

Well I think it's pretty obvious that the draft is a crapshoot. It's either hit or miss, not really an in-between area.

In order for us to move forward, we are going to have to shell out some dough for top O/D-linemen in FA. It is going to be impossible for us to move forward signing crackheads like Gandy, Reyes, and Lil' Fowler. And on top of that we have no pass rush from career backups. We do have a couple of guys on the O-line who were 2nd day picks who made the team since there was no one else chalenging them, so that it reall encouraging.

Talk about gelling all you want, but the O-line and the D-line is where games and championships are won and lost. Tirds don't gel together and they don't stick together, they sink to the bottom and fester until they get flushed out. All we are going to do is look realy ****ty.

You don't take a RIGHT tackle at #4. Donadumb has screwed this franchise for years with that assine pick.
Parrish, Evans, and McGahee are nice picks when your lines are in place, if not, they will be limited in showing their skills.

Chicago DL

Ogun - undrafted 6-4 260 lbs.
Harris 6-3 300 lb. 1st rd. 14th overall.
Scott - 6'3" 302 lbs. drafted 4th rd.
Brown 6'3" 260 lbs. drafted 4th rd.

Bills DL

Anderson - 6'3 304 lb. 3rd. rd.
Kelsay -6'4 274 lbs. 2nd rd.
Schobel 6-4 262 lbs. 2nd rd.
Tripplett 6-2 295 lbs. drafted in 2nd rd.

Wow, they weigh just as much and yet our players were drafted higher on the average compared to the bears' DL Other than Harris.

maybe someone can compare our OL with the OL of either Colts or Broncos. :idunno:

So far, I like the Whitner pick. It's not who or where players were drafted as evident when comparing our Dl with the best DL in the NFL. It's the coaches. But I still miss a SAm Adams or Pat Williams. Yes, the were big and could disrupt the back field even if they weren't the 3 technique type of players.

And which two d-ends in buffalo rush the passer like O-gun and Brown. And which d-tackle is a playmaker like Harris ?

Tarik Glenn is the starting LEFT tackle in Indy. You might have heard of him. Been covering Peyton's back side for many years. 1st rd.

Hopefully our new braintrust will address the issue this offseason. Remember, we're in this situation mostly because of the "master poker plater"...
