if he was a bills qb, you would be pissing and moaning about his fumble and talking about how the wr was wide open on the td passes so it didnt count.

The Cardinal OL is no better than ours. The difference with Leinart is that he knows where everyone is supposed to be, he gets through his progression waaaaay faster than you know who, and he sees the rush (for the most part).

He looks like he has a clue.

it's kind of sad all the hand holding of JP, a guy who's been in the league for three years, we've had shoved down our throats. We should have drafted Leinart he went out there last night and demonstrated he's got the poise and focus of an NFL QB something we've yet to see from our guy. Sure, JP has tons of talent yada yada...he just can't get his head in the game and I guess we're destined to "just waiting" while our team SUCKS for an eternity.

He fumbled on a blindisde hit.

The Cards should cut him. Now.
BTW, before people get a great big Leinart woody, does anybody remember how great Scott Mitchell looked his first two starts?

mybills

What you guys are are forgetting is that Leinart is allowed to roll out...Jauron doesn't give JP that option. So comparing the two is a moot point since you're not considering each coach. Jauron needs to let JP play naturally.

Here are stats for a QB after his first significant playing time:

GP 13
CMP 133
ATT 233
PCT 57.1
Yards 1773
Y/A 7.6
TD 12
INT 8

It only looked that way because he got rid of the damn ball. Funny I was able to count at least 4 seconds in the pocket on several throws. Oh and on the ones where he did get rid of it, Bolden is quite a leap up the food chain from Josh reed, Price or Parrish.

And JP NEVER had 4 seconds to throw the whole game?

A guy who is an expert in football, like yourself, thinks this OL is better than ours?
You see them try to run the ball? Pathetic.

I don't think he had 4 sec's all game, but I don't think he had all night to throw, either.
TD -
"For the most part so did JP against the Bears."
No, not for the most part. 1/3 is more accurate.

I realize you guys are defending your QB, but you can't take away from the job Leinart did last night against the Bears.

Here is what QBs did against the Bears in their first 5 games:

91-for-155 (58.7%), 792 Yards (5.1 Yds/Att), 1 TD, 7 Int, 55.6 QB Rating

Here is what Leinart did against them last night:

24-for-42 (57.1%), 232 Yds (5.5 Yds/Att), 2 TD, 0 Int, 88.6 QB Rating

You have to take into account the opponent he is playing against, and his peformance in his 2nd start is pretty amazing. The kid is going to be a real good player for a long time.

Of course, he isn't a 3rd-year rookie like JP, but he did well nonetheless.

From the same article, NE.

The quarterback's mistake-prone outings are raising questions of whether the second-year starter should be benched, as he was twice last season.

Why, because I could go out and get the stats of the following

10 QB's who had good first years by terrible careers
10 QB's who had good first years and had great careers
10 QB's who had good first years and average careers
10 QB's who had terrible first years and had terrible Careers
10 QB's who had terrible first years and had great careers
10 QB's who had terrible first years and had average careers
10 QB's who had average first years and had terrible careers
10 QB's who had average first years and had great careers
10 QB's who had average first years and had average careers

So pick a point, and I'll back it up with stats!

I don't understand anyones argument here, there is only one stat that matters, final score Bears 24-Cards 23. Leinart was the losing qb. And I don't want to hear any BS that it wasn't his fault. He looked good in the 1st half, but the Bears looked really bad, and in the second he couldn't move the ball with the starting safety and cb out of the game.

the Cards did move the ball...what haunted them last night was they couldn't score a TD when they got close and their field goal kicker sucks.

If your using wins and losses as the ONLY measuring stick for a quarterback, then Losman is the worst QB in NFL history.. What's his record as starter again, 3-11?

Ridiculous thing to say.

Is it really ridiculous? Peyton Manning started 3-13 in 16 starts. And no I'm not comparing Losman to Manning. But you're clueless Pat. Leinart had 4 series where he just needed to keep the chains moving in the second half and couldn't do it. And an additional series to drive down for the winning score and couldn't, let's see I didn't see him walk on water last night, and he crumbled with the game on the line, holy cow he is human. Bottomline: Record as a starter 0-2.
