I think a good QB can make a OL look better and a good OL can make an average QB better. I think what we have on our hands is a less than average OL (not as bad as people make it out to be) and a less than average QB. Put them together and the problems compile. And you end up with what we have.

THEN what you have are defenses that don't respect you, and can concentrate on shutting down your run game and well as wreaking havoc on your passing game.
