Apparently, nobody bothered to tell the sellout HSBC Arena crowd that a Buffalo Sabres victory Friday night wasn't going to force the Carolina Hurricanes to hand over the Stanley Cup.
The jacked-up mob wanted revenge on the team that eliminated their boys last spring in the Eastern Conference finals. Who cared if it was one game out of 82? Certainly not the 18,690 folks who screamed themselves hoarse when Thomas Vanek and Jaroslav Spacek scored late in the third period to keep the Sabres undefeated with a compelling 5-4 victory
