Dan Dierdorf on JP: How can your luck be going that bad?

Well Dan, you mix inexperience with inept coaching, toss in a sprinkle of over confidence and bake it with a belief you are destined for the football hame of fame.

Yeah but what Dan was also saying is that JP still hasnt even started 16 games yet and that his supporting cast is not strong. That is why things arent going well. This is just not a good football team, period.

I think that was the point that Dan was trying to make.

The first sign of bad luck is when Dierdork gets assigned to your game.

So true... why can't this guy just go away already? He's never been a good announcer and he already had his contract unrenewed once already. There are pro athletes out there that can announce a game better than his ugly ass could.

                    Should you ?

Why would anyone feel bad for someone collecting huge money playing a game.
And beyond that he isn't good enough to be out there in the first place.

Hah, I'm sure if Losman starts 2 more games to make it to 16 starts everything will come into focus.
                      LOL.

Re: Dan Dierdorf on JP: How can your luck be going that bad?

This is a very bad team. We have a bunch of morons on the coaching staff. The offense sucks and the defense can't force anybody to kick FG's.

We have only ran for 100 yards once this year. We have only rushed for over 4ypc once this year. They were both in the same game.

Our OL sucks and we have no running game that the other teams are respecting right now. If you can't establish the run and keep the defenses honest or give consistent blocking that spells trouble for your offense and passing game.

We only have one legit WR on this team. The rest of them are a collection of short #3 WR's.

He's doing the best he can with what he has around him. When you have all of the above against you then it doesn't smell success for a QB. Name any QB's in this league that has a terrible offensive line and a running game that can't net 100 yards a game and keep defenses honest and that's successful?

All the successful QB's in this league have a strong running game and a good system. We have neither at the moment. Until we can get a real HC in this place and fix the OL it's gonna always be that way. It doesn't matter who you bring in at the QB position.

I'm not making excuses for JP. He hasn't been great either but the rest of the team also isn't playing good to take any pressure off him. If we were going out there and running the ball well and had decent protection but JP wasn't doing his part then I would be discouraged. When we can fix what needs to be fixed then he will improve even more.

His accuracy is still up there. He's completing over 60% of his passes and he's going for around 200+ yards a game.

We have a team that for the last few weeks are always playing from behind and 2 scores down by the 2nd quarter if not sooner.

Every phase of this team is terrible right now. Football is a team sport and it takes everybody doing their jobs to be a good team. Jauron isn't getting this team ready and is getting his ass whipped out there every week.

If you wanna dump JP for what's going on we better replace about 16 other starters right now because they are also playing like crap. For how unprepared and bad this team is playing right now I'm surprised he's even throwing for 200 yards a game and completing 60% of his passes.

We need to dump at least 3 people on the OL, McGahee, every WR besides Evans(who doesn't show up every game because although he's good he's not good enough to handle the double teams every game. He needs somebody around him to take pressure off of him), Simpson, and the list goes on and on. They aren't playing good either.

Coaching is the single worst part of this team right now. Jauron is picking up where he left off in Chicago and the half a season in Detroit last year.

Speaking of Detroit. Look how bad their offense was over the last few years. All they really have is Roy Williams. They have John Kitna as their QB. Their offense has came around the last few weeks and is putting points on the board. The reason...because they have a great offensive minded coach running the show and calling the plays in a good system. We don't. It's as simple as that.

Plain and simple is that JP isn't the only reason why we suck. He's done decent. Not great but not absolutely terrible. Everyone else around him is playing like complete garbage.

Our team is always commiting bad penalties. Just like last year. Nothing ever changes. We have the 2nd most pre-snap penalties in the league this year. They aren't disciplined and unprepared compared to the other teams we're playing. That stuff falls back on coaching.

Some of you can't see past the QB position. We can go ahead and bring in anybody else you want too and we're still gonna be a bad team. With a bad system and coaching, a pathetic OL, no running game(due to the OL) and a bunch of #3 WR's at best that are all under 6ft. tall the other QB is gonna fail too unless he is a future HOF. And even if he is it wouldn't be good enough to lead this team to the playoffs.

Do you think if Tom Brady was on this team we would be 5-1 like the Patriots? Not a chance. They have a great coach and a smart coached team. And even with having nothing but junk to throw to their coach can still find mismatches and manage the game to lead the team to victory.

                            Very good post

Our problems against the Pats started with the Defence where our inability to stop them scoring at will was always going to be our downfall.

Some of the coaching was poor, but equally the decision to switch to the Tampa2 without reviewing what players we had in real game time and what they could do is really beginning to haunt us. I think we need to develop our own defensive approach aimed at stopping the power running game in our division. If we can't get out of our division then we're stuffed.

I also agree with you about the WRs. They are too similar and don't force the opposition to take a different look. Running the same routes a 6ft3+ WR forces different pressures on their Def coordinator. Despite Royal having a better game, he is not the long term answer. If we are not going to get a pure blocking TE, we need a big nasty receiving TE who can occasionally help out the line. We have neither. McGahee, well sometimes he plays like he is interested and sometimes he is not. He played a tough game with no real help. As Merz did ok I am close to wanting to move Peters inside and start with a line of

                            Pennington - Peters - Preston - Merz - Butler.

Terribly inexperienced but surely no worse.

I am not a JP hater. He has improved. Whether he will improve sufficiently to ever get us to where we need to go or will be continued to be allowed to try to do so, is debatable. However we have no other QB on the roster who is the answer. I am not happy with respectable. If we blow out the season, it gives us a better chance to retool in the offseason. At 2-5 already even with a fantastic turnaround, with games at the Colts and the Ravens we are at best 9-7 and it will take us a miracle. I have no doubt we will draft a QB on Day1 of the next draft, but I don't want him up a creek like JP has been, which means not some LT band aid but drafting a LT stud no later than Round 2
