.....We don't re-sign Biron, (keep him for the season- don't trade) , Dump Connolly (very talented, but concussion prone), Don't re-sign Teppo,

That will free up nearly $6-7 million under the cap.

Other expendables would be Hecht, Mair, Peters- though the latter don't make that much

Briere Already said he's going to try and work on a Long Term Deal, and said after the 5 Mill Award, that he didnt want Big Money, But Long Term...

the sticking point seemed to be he wanted 5 years but the Sabres would only give him 4...it was not money.

Teppo signed a 2 year deal, I think.

The important pieces will be wearing a slug next year.

If comes down to choosing I'd say choose Drury all the way. I've been saying for years now that I think he should be the permanent captain. He's a real leader. It just so happens that he is really backing it up w/ stats right now. Regardless, both players strike me as the type that will give up some money for the good of the team. I think that is what I like so much about these guys.

I never understood that contract either. His concussions are always going to be a problem. :(

Remember after Connolly got hurt there were rumors how he might be back for the "next game"? I thought "Wouldn't it be ironic if he wasn't even able to play at the start of next season?" Pretty Sad.

Where would you have rather seen the money spent? On Timmy or JP? Even if Timmy comes back he's one hit away from being out for the season again. Maybe ending his career. And he knows that. He will play tentative. Like the "Tiny Tim" of old.

Luckily the Sabres don't need him. Maybe he'll be back in time for the playoffs...
