i was watching the jets game last week...... and during the game one of the players helmets hit the ref........ now in case of the ref having to "leave" the game, do they have ready replacements, or do they run one man short??

I think they have a group of other sightless, hearing impaired and mentally challenged people ready to go in.Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

In Patriot games, they send in one of their assistant coaches to sub. Just so there's no disparity in their "preferred" calls.Comment

Im fairly certain Ive seen a ref go out and there be a replacement ready - cant even ballpark the game I saw it.Comment

I'm sure it depends. When multiple teams have bye weeks there are more refs to go around. When all teams are playing they probably don't have backups.Comment

It's kind of like the playoffs for baseball and hockey, they carry a "taxi squad". There is someone there too fill in if someone goes down.
