............................linebacker Mike Peterson is expected to be one of the hotter free agents when the period opens Friday. One team that might jump on him right away is the Buffalo Bills. They are desperate for help at linebacker, especially a player who can run like Peterson. They might try to nail him right away with a contract he can't turn down. The Colts would like to have Peterson back, but they have not made him a top priority, instead focusing on center Jeff Saturday and defensive tackle Brad Scioli as the players they want to re-sign. The Colts are high on second-year linebacker David Thornton, a player who showed enough as a rookie last year that they feel he can take over for Peterson. Tom Condon is the agent for Peterson and is one who usually gets a deal done on the first day of the free-agency period. Look for Peterson to potentially be that guy, with Buffalo a likely location...........................................................................

I want petersen BAD! He's my favorite FA linebacker...especially since he'll be cheaper than Spikes.

I like Peterson as well but we should still look into Spikes before we spend our money.

It would be pretty sweet to turn this photo around, eh? Put 52 in the Bills jersey and the RB would be Edgerrin James, or Ricky Williams. :D

Peterson, Colts and Mazlowski, Chiefs are the 2 LB's I would like in here.

With all the potential cap room we have without Price, imagine getting Peterson and Spikes, and 1 mid Level DT FA, then drafting a DT with our 1st round pick from Price.

Maslowski just agreed to a new 6 year deal with the Chiefs. Sorry. :(

I hope it gets done. As has been stated elsewhere, the problem with Spikes is that Cincinnati has a full week to decide if they want to match the offer a team (the Bills?) might make to him. That's a week during which Buffalo's free agent signing activity would be virtually suspended because of the size of the offer we'd be making. During that week other teams can be signing players and taking them off the market. Then if the Bungles match the offer after a week Buffalo would have lost both Spikes and possibly a chance for any one of several other good free agents who may have signed elsewhere during Buffalo's wait.
