    JP is just fine!!!

After watching the full on assaults on the guy for some part of a few weeks of bad play by the TEAM, I think its time to realize that JP is all we need at QB provided we make a true effort to improve the overall teams talent level.

I have watched guys like Carson Palmer, Eli Manning, Rex Grossman, Mike Vick, Donovan McNabb, and even Peyton Manning struggle plenty at times. Palmer and Manning, even Roth now show just what young QB's can look like at times. All have struggled, all have coughed up the ball and thrown bad throws. Yet all have also shown they can take their teams into the playoffs. Or more accurately, these TEAMS will go to the playoffs without hall of fame level QB play 100% of the time.

There in lies the rub. Every single team that these QB's reside on has better overall talent than we do.

Take a look at the Bengals for example. Heres a team with a top 5 WR, a top 10 RB, a great #2 WR, a top 5 LG, a top 5 CB, a decent defense, good coaching, an average OL outside of Steinbach. Is it any wonder that they are a playoff team? Carson has struggled plenty though. Look how mediocre his firt 14 starts were:

Seriously, JP hasnt looked any worse than this. He has 15 starts, and I think although maybe slightly behind where Carson was at that point, one can argue we dont have the talent that they do either.

Theres no need for the anti-JP posters to respond. We all know how you feel and thats fine, your entitled.

But I cant see that spending a very high draft pick on a new guy and at the same time not addressing perpetual team problems or even overall talent level helps us. I think a shorter path to where we all want to go is to simply boost the overall talent, and invest in the trenches. I have every belief in the world that JP wil prove to be just fine with a better team.

I honestly feel that Peters at LT, and Gandy at LG will have a tangible good result on JP's game starting next weekend.

Calvin Johnson? Joe Thomas? Eric Steinbach? Dwight Freeney? Eric Johnson? Buster Davis? Garrett Wolfe? theres plenty of talent that can make this team better. We have lots of FA's this next year, we are likely to have high draft picks, this is a great time to make bigtime changes to make your team better in a hurry.

It will hurt this team to gut one of your corp youngsters and be forced to invest heavily in an all new QB. IMO, its just not worth it. Build the team first and have the luxury of spending a ton, if necessary, to get a top QB. But dont make that move until your sold that your team is good enough and we arent even close.

Stick by JP for the rest of the year, we will know whether hes good enough or not. The Bills have been clear that they are sticking with him, they also have been clear that they arent good enough talent wise overall. Lets fix the team, and we will be just fine.

    Patience is a virtue!

JP-era, it may be a good idea to post this in Investment and Development.. With that said, Carson to JP comparison isnt really effective.

      Re: JP is just fine!!!

I think the only problem I have ever had with JP is something that wasn't his fault, the fact that Tom Donahue in retrospect probably gave up too much to select him.

Its unfortunate therefore that the expectations were much higher for JP than someone taken at a similar point in the draft, no22.

What I found shocking is that while Palmer, Manning, Vick, Big Ben and McNabb were given the opportunity to work through their growing pains, JP who was the equivalent of an No11, if you count what we gave up in 2005, was yanked all over the place by Mularky.

Another point is that Palmer, Manning, and McNabb have all had consistent coaching, He's been in the league 3 seasons (the 1st out injured) and he's on his second GM/Head Coach already. And therefore it will take time to adapt to a new system. The QB, whilst not the entire the team is certainly the figurehead and if he demonstrates leadership and a desire to win for the rest of the season, it will highlight those who don't and will be offloaded.

I do think that he will benefit from maybe a Day1 QB being drafted but certainly not a round one choice. We have too many gaps to try to bring in another Round 1 'saviour' rookie who will face massive expectations and even if the OL is possibly fixed, quality depth wouldn't go amiss, nor would a new LB

While he has regressed in the last 3 games, I think he definitely deserves the next 9. Even if we only win 3-4 games I want to see that at least he is trying to drive the team forward, even though there may be some colleagues who I doubt will respond.

JP is just fine when his play does the talking and not the fans.

When has his "play done the talking"? Once.. Twice at the most?

              He will do just fine.

Im not giving up on him yet. All of you have every right to do whatever you like. But Im sticking by him. I honestly think he will be just fine.

I just watched Nacho Libre, and I think many of you need a "Neeeeeeeple Tweeeeeeesssst"!

Most of us are probably WAY over thinking this thing. The team isnt good enough. Boost the talent, invest in the trenches and let our young corps talent shine

              Losman, McGahee, Evans.

You know, you JP nuthuggers constantly ask us bashers to calm down with our posts..then you post crap like this. First off, in CP's first 14 starts he had 6 wins! something JP hasnt done EVER. Lets just look at that simple stat for 30 minutes and then see when and if JP hits 6 wins, we can bring this subject back.

If you dont want us to bash JP then dont start dummy posts where we can bash him.
                That proves NOTHING about Losman

Carson Palmer also had a far superior oline(including Levi Jones on his blindside) and a more credible receiving corp(including CJ) as well as Rudi Johnson. Losman has McGahee, Evans....and, up until now, Mike Gandy protecting his blindside. I dare say Carson was in a better enviroment, and came from a bigger school with a pro-style offense...
Good riddance Fairchild. Of course, the knowledge of your departure will only make TE more hateable than the typical Bills QB. Good luck, hope we don't mess you up like JP.

                    Re: JP is just fine!!!

It's really useless to compare JP to 'x' QB. I dont care if your trying to spin it in a negative or positive way. As a fan, I dont need to compare JP to another QB to make up my mind on how good he is. We just need to give him the rest of the season to show us what he gots, hopefully he comes to play starting at GB.

There are so many variables you have to factor in. Does he have a run game? Does he have protection? Does he have WR's that can get open? Can his defense create turnovers, so the offense can get back on the field? All of these things need to be accounted for, if you are going to evaluate a QB properly, imo.

He has help, he just needs some more. Alot of the mistakes he has made are because of his own damn fault. I'm not going to harp on him for interceptions, because thats the nature of the beast. However, stupid fumbles and ******ed sacks really have killed our team offensively. It seems like every time we get something going, he screws it up. That may have something to do with why our offense is ranked, what 28th in the league?
