Browns release Jamir Miller, Earl Holmes

BEREA, Ohio (February 27, 2003 8:30 p.m. EST) - Butch Davis isn't a fan of the NFL's salary structure, and the Cleveland Browns' coach dislikes cutting players even more.

On Thursday, an unhappy Davis released two more experienced players.

Needing to get under the salary cap, the Browns opened two more holes in their defense by releasing veteran linebackers Jamir Miller and Earl Holmes.

Miller, the club's only Pro Bowler since 1999, was due a $14 million roster bonus that the Browns had no intention of paying.

Holmes will not get a $1 million roster bonus and, like Miller, is now an unrestricted free agent.
