The base im at has different groups. In the group im in there are 23 guys and girls. 9 of them are 18-19 years old. Never been overseas and are scared to death. One of them is Muslim. He loves the US. He came here in 1994 and has become a citizen, joined the military and has had little over a year training. Im the 5th person in this group in rank. We were supose to leave a couple days ago. But requested an extension cause of the youth in the group. So in 3 weeks we leave for Iraq. Cant say where. But 3 weeks to train them to shoot weapons avoid getting shot at. All the necessary stuff for certain situations. They hide fear well. But it does no good. There scared they will die. I feel that these type of youth in the military have been forgotten.

Last week the Major on the base told a guy that was 19 not in the squad im in, but said he was important. Said what he does in the military is useless. He is a mechanic cleaner. Cleans grease, oil, gas and all that good stuff off of engines and every tool. Thats what people put up with in the military. I wouldnt choose to fight or to help the Major he is a Major Ass. But its my job and I love it. So do the kids here on base. Im 22 and far from old but have had 4 years training. That shows the youth. The oldest person in the squad im a part of is 27 years old. Remember the military goes from the President to the cleaners. It doesnt stop where it becomes uninteresting.

For the people who protest wars. Remember you cant protest without the freedom to do so. Thats what the war is about. Helping Iraq's innocent civiliians that are being killed on chemical weapons test to be free.

Hey, silent - is there any way someone (a civilian like me) could send a letter to that kiddo who's a Muslim, or that kiddo who's cleaning the mechanics? The people behind the people keep it all together. I love the soldiers, but, you and I know that the people behind them help to keep the soldiers going! It's all a team effort. :)

Honey,

Sorry im not allowed to say what base im at. Its a very hush -hush deal. Its hard not to say but gotta do it. The kid hasnt takin the Major serious. Thinks the Major is a joke. Yeah and he really is. The Muslim kid is 1 of the funniest on base. Keeps everyone smiling and laughing. Last year during the 9/11 anniversary for 2 weeks he wore a shirt saying "I LOVE AMERICA"

Keep up the good fight!!!
