For Buffalo:

Biggest surprise: The quality play of rookie starters Donte Whitner and Ko Simpson at the safety position was expected eventually, but not necessarily from the season’s first game. Whitner has played like a veteran from Day One, while Simpson moved into the lineup after Troy Vincent’s hamstring injury and has shown solid ball skills.

Biggest disappointment: DT Larry Tripplett was the team’s marquee free-agent acquisition, but at midseason he wasn’t in the team’s top 11 in tackles and had come up with zero sacks, zero forced fumbles and just one recovery. In addition, the team’s DT rotation was spotty against the run, getting gashed for 135 or more yards in 4-of-8 games.

Top newcomers: The team has been excited by the five defensive players it added in last April’s draft. Safeties Whitner and Simpson, OLB Keith Ellison and DTs Kyle Williams and John McCargo (now out for the season) all played big roles from the outset and give the team lots of hope for the future.

Fantasy stud: On a team that has scored only 13 touchdowns in eight games, by default the best player from a fantasy standpoint is PK Rian Lindell. He has converted 11-of-12 FG attempts, including 2-of-2 from 50 yards or longer.

Fantasy dud: After proclaiming all preseason that the tight end would be an integral part of the offense, Bills tight ends have caught 12 balls, making starter Robert Royal and projected fantasy sleeper Kevin Everett best left on the bench.

Should be interesting to see the 2nd half of the season. So far so good. If the greenbay game is a sign of things to come, I'll be happy, at least for the defensive side of the ball. Maybe they are starting to get the cover 2 or maybe not. There isn't a better team to test this D than the Colts.

Guys, we gave up about 450 yards to the Packers, our defense wasn't that good. They made key turnovers, a few of which were gift-wrapped by Green Bay. But we got them none the less. We easily could have lost that game 31-10 if they didn't shoot themselves in the foot as bad as they did.

3 and outs from the offense will do that to a defense.

Going 2-11 on third down and allowing the opposing team to have the ball 10 more minutes than you have it isn't important! Come on now!
