I've checked a couple sites.
The only thing I've heard as of right now is that it happened after practice and the whole team was either nearby or showed up very quickly.
Possibly a drive-by......but that's just a rumor.
You have to wonder if this is related to the FIU fight. If it is, what a sad, sad world some people live in to have to take things this far.Click to listen:

University of Miami defensive lineman Bryan Pata was shot and killed Tuesday night, shortly after leaving the practice field, according to a university official with knowledge of the situation.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement still was being prepared by the university, had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Pata's death.
Miami-Dade police refused to release specific information about what happened.
Pata, a 6-foot-4, 272-pound senior, is from Miami

what a shame.. but mikes right... if someone said a player was shot but did not say what school, the first thought I would have is Miami... not sure why they continue to bring in such troubled kids, but then dont give them some quality leadership and role models to show them how to live responsiblyIn my day we did not have self-esteem... we had self-respect, and no more of it then we earned.Comment

I feel bad for the kid and his family and teammates.
But, unfortunately, when a program is as undisciplined and corrupt as Miami, the situations that escalate to this type of violence are bound to occur.Comment

I wonder what happened? We still dont have all the facts.. What kind of kid was he? Was he a good kid, or 'gangsta'? Heck, we dont even know if this was intentional, or if he was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.Comment
