That's what JP did against Indy when he was allowed to drop back on 3rd down...

Ist quarter...
3rd and 5... JP pass for 8 yards and a 1st down.
3rd and 4... JP pass for 6 yards and a 1st down.
3rd and 13... JP pass for 24 yards and a 1st down.

Follwed by 3 straight run plays and a FG.

2nd quarter...
No 3rd down pass attempts

3rd quarter...
3rd and 10... Incomplete
3rd and 1... Incomplete

4th quarter...
3rd and 6... JP pass for 24 yards and a 1st down.
3rd and 5... sack.

7 times JP dropped back to pass on 3rd down... 4 times he converted... That's a 57% conversion rate. Take away the attempt where he was sacked and we're looking at 67% conversion rate.

TAKE THE HANDCUFFS OFF THE KID!!!

Percentages are useless when there are so few attempts.

Look at "the kid" over the season and you'll see how lousy he is on 3rd downs.

Guess what, sales at my company are up 100% from yesterday!!! Great, right? No. Yesterday we had one sale. Today we had 2. We should get 1,000 sales a day.

See how percentages can be deceiving?

Well he does pout on the bench like a little baby, so maybe it's appropriate!

Show JPs 3rd down percentages.

My point was to put things in perspective.

I am going to agree with you, on your last sentence.

I say take the handcuffs off him too.

Let him throw 30-35 times per game for the rest of the season.. Personally, I think its a 2-3 turnover train wreck waiting to happen all the time.. BUT, it will be one less EXCUSE once it happens to keep this clown past this year.

For the record, Losman hasnt thrown a TD on third down this year, and he's been picked four times.. and coming into the Indy game, his 3rd down % was 25.7

With his whopping 19 attempts, what's his new 3rd down %? 25.9%?

With his whopping 19 attempts, what's his new 3rd down %? 25.9%?What don't you understand about the fact that he only dropped back to pass 7 times on 3rd down?

He dropped back to pass a total of 17 times during the course of this game. Obviously 9 of those times were on either 1st or 2nd down. of those 9 times, he was sacked 3... Which means he completed 5 of 6 attempts... or 83%.

It's called Wysian logic...something that most of us longtimers have come to take as a joke. When analyzing how Travis Henry was playing, Wys would take out his best runs before making his analysis. :laughter:
