View Full Version : Possible reason for our weak offseason

What if Marv, Dick, and Co. simply discussed that we should play a season with our new schemes, new personnel (at least to them), new coaching and see what we have before we make huge investments?

I actually cant disagree with that thought overall. Do we have the right type of player to run a Tampa 2 for example? We made a few moves to bring in guys. But the majority of the players were already here, how would they look in it?

Did we have the right O players to run Fairchilds scheme? Same thing applies as far as the bulk of the players already being here. Id argue that o-lineman are o-lineman, but Denver has the lightest o-line in the league mostly due to needing light guys to effectively run the zone blocking method; they need to be quicker.

Maybe it was a wait and evaluate whether the players we have are appropriate for the schemes were running.

If so, it could spell a monsterous offseason this year that makes a drastic change in our fortunes.

our fortunes are NEVER changing until we get more offensive linemen that can actually block consistently, another legit WR option besides Evans and a quarterback who knows how to run an offense and lead the football team, and one that the coaches can call 15+ pass plays for without ****ting their pants in fear (and so teams cant put 8-9 guys in the box because they have no respect for your QB)

Or just cut to the chase. Get a new QB. A good QB will adapt to his enviroment. There is no reason JP cant throw 8 yards to Parrish. No reason he cant dump to Mcgahee/Atrain. What about 12 yards to the Price going to the outside? Those are all simple passes ANY QB should be able to make. Within 3 seconds.

It's not just a new QB.

They dont need an ENTIRE new OL, but they need two new starters (RG and RT) that are sturdy and reliable.

And they need either a quality 2nd WR who can take double teams off Evans and make the defense respect them more, or a pass catching TE threat (havent we heard that before)

Its OBVIOUS EVerett isnt that guy, they barely ever even TRY to throw to him.

You and I BOTH wish we had Vernon Davis.

But Whitner was a great pickup as well.
