According to the Buffalo News article today, the Bills have "made a preliminary contact with Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Sam Adams, one of the NFL's big-name run stuffers. No visit with Adams is scheduled yet."

My questions is, should we bother??? I know he'll want a huge deal and I wasn't overly impressed with him last season after watching him with the Raiders.

I would rather sign a solid DE rather than a DT (along with a decent OLB). Force the run towards the center of the field towards Fletcher and P. Williams. They can handle the work load.

The Bengals are also interested in Adams. I'm really not high on him, but that's just my opinion.

can someone show me any documentation that says he is a locker room problem?

Would rather not sign an old washed up, overweight, over priced guy like him.

He'll be 30 this season, he's not old. He's about PW's size. They'd be formidable together.

I think I'd rather spend half on Thornton though and sign him to a 5 or 6 year contract. He's not as good as Adams, but for the bucks he'd allow us to sign more and he's very, very good and bound to improve. Adams is what he is, and like Miss B said, he'll want a huge deal.

Gotta also agree w/ Miss B, he didn't seem to be the player he was in Baltimore. System, coaching, he's falling off? Somewhat of a risk. He'd be a good 2-year sign, or signing longer w/ the intent of keeping him only for 2 years. Once those big guys hit 32 or so they start going downhill fast, for the most part.

Again, sounds like a PR move to me. Last year would have been the year to have signed Adams, not this year. Let's go with Thornton instead. He'd better fit our "speed based" system, if in fact that's what we're sticking with.

lol - Isn't it funny what a difference a year makes? Last season Adams topped the list of many, including myself.

He eats up 2 or 3 blockers per play, he's not going to make alot of tackles. But I guarantee if he was here next to Pat Williams, London Fletcher would have over 200 tackles

Yeah Adams has only been to two Supers Bowls in the last 3 years or so.
You put a load like this in the middle of the line, aka Ted Washington, Siragusa, and no one runs up the middle. Thats called making a defense.
Forget about being against huge guys in the middle of the line. Greg says he doesn't like fat people. Aside from calling the kettle black, that doesn't make much football or people sense now does it.

I don't care who we bring in at DT as long as I see an Upgrade over Ron Edwards, or whoever was playing next to Pat Williams.

He is a fat tub of goo who got run over in the SB by a very average line. He could crap PW's size.

No thanks.

Did anyone play next to Pat Williams last season?

Well...that at least shows that TD is making an effort to find a DT. I doubt that Adams is his real choice, but it lets whoever he really has in mind know that there are other players out there.
