I have never even heard of a casino determining the location of a NHL franchise, Las vegas doesn't even have a pro team. They just want to suck the life out of the people at casino's, it's really just a sad sad time in the NHL.

Bettman: Pens' future may hinge on casino

PITTSBURGH (AP) - NHL commissioner Gary Bettman warned Tuesday that the Penguins' future in Pittsburgh is uncertain if the Isle of Capri casino chain isn't awarded a license next month to build a slot machines parlour in the city.

Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. has promised to build a US$290 million arena to replace 45-year-old Mellon Arena, at no cost to taxpayers or the team, if awarded the license. The other two applicants are expected to provide money toward an arena, but neither would fully fund a new building.

"If the Isle of Capri doesn't get the license, we've got a lot of uncertainty to deal with, and it's best for everybody and the franchise that we're not dealing in uncharted and uncertain waters," Bettman said.

This is one of the reasons the NHL will stay off major TV, they have no pride. The NFL doesn't deal with casino's or second class places, only top shelf. Let Mario make $100 Million and move the franchise to a fool willing to pay for it. That makes the other franchises worth more and makes the league more desirable.

ahhh....who cares. It's all about money Skooby you know that. Rooting for a small market team like the Bills you should know how it is for other small market teams as well. I am surprised the Pirates are still in Pittsburgh

More shocking about the Pirates is the fact that have one of the most beautiful new stadiums out there. They also have an owner with cash. Which Buffalo will need then Ralph decides he's had enough.

I heard all about this when my buddies were up a couple weeks ago from the burgh. They don't think there is anyway it will pass. They do agree that a new arena is needed.

Pens to Kansas City Here we Come? Gee maybe they'll change their name to the KC Scouts again the Scouts was a real hockey team they moved to NJ to become the Devils.
