One end result of veteran CB Terrence McGee missing last Sunday's win over the New York Jets was giving the coaching staff a chance to see prized rookie Ashton Youboty in action for the first time.

Veteran Kiwaukee Thomas started in place of McGee, but Youboty was promoted to nickel corner and did well with three tackles and no noticeable breakdowns in coverage. Since the Bills started the game in nickel, he officially gets credit for one NFL start.

If the Bills lose star veteran Nate Clements, who played with the franchise tag this season, in free agency -- a very real possibility considering Clements will be asking to be paid in the $7 million a year range permanently -- Youboty would likely start next season in his place.

I know it was due to a death in a family but Youboty should have beem given 'leave without pay' earlier in the year since he was not able to do whathe was being paid to do. Of course NFLPA will not allow things like that but they will support players who hold out while under contract.

Since he wasn't practicing he was not doing what he was paid to do.

He was practicing. All of the time he missed was in the pre-season. Players are not paid their salary during pre-season.
