The Buffalo Sabres have suffered just five regulation losses this season, but two have come to the Ottawa Senators.

The Sabres look for a better showing Saturday when they host the slumping Senators in the fourth meeting between the Northeast Division rivals this season.

Buffalo (24-5-2) has an Eastern Conference-best 50 points this season, but has struggled to take many from Ottawa (16-16-1), dropping two of three matchups. The Sabres won an NHL-record 10 straight road games to open the season, but had that run snapped with a 4-1 defeat to the Senators in their last meeting on Nov. 18.

The Senators were outshot 33-22 Thursday en route to being shut out for the third time this season, 6-0 at Nashville. Ottawa fell to 1-4-0 without captain Daniel Alfredsson, who has missed five straight games with a hip injury.

Before Alfredsson got hurt, the Senators had won eight of nine, with the right wing recording a point in each of those victories. Ottawa has also been without defenseman Wade Redden, who has been sidelined for seven games with chest and shoulder injuries.

I like to see that injury list is dramatically shorter now then it has been! We need to relight the fire in our offense against this struggling Ottawa team tonight!! I think Miller's about due for a rest too, but you can't sit him when he's playing as hot as he has been the past few games either!

A few observations from this game...

- Vanek has had his head up his ass the past few games making some very stupid choices...
- I cringe everytime we go 5 on 3, we rarely get anything out of it because we over pass.
- Brian Campbell is awesome... much improved on defense and his offensive contributions just keep getting better, not to mention he is quick as hell for a d-man!
- Still can't figure out exactly what it is about Ottawa that gives us fits, but we better get it figured out soon!
- What the hell happened to Jason Pominville?!?!? He had that real hot streak earlier in the season and hasn't done crap since then! 1 goal, 2 assists in the last 10 games, I can't see back further than that, but I'd suggest the slump is even longer...
