I'm still not convinced JP is gonna be great but I'm comfortable with him being our QB now and next year.

I agree. As long as he doesn't consistently play like a bonehead he's fine...and I also think he can make plays that will win us games.

Losman's head is out of his @$$, and Roethlisberger's got his head up his (own) ass this year.

That's not really surprising in retrospect. Rothlisberger played in a high powered pro style offense at Miami of Ohio. M of O is not USC or Ohio State, but the Mid-American Conference is very respectable. By contrast Tulane seems to have played something a little closer to sand lot football. Losman wasn never asked to play an offense with the kind of sophistication he found when coming to the Bills, or an offense that required the kind of discipline he has to show now. Sam Wyche has a reputation as a great QB coach, but I don't think he really appreaciated how much JP had to learn. To their credit, Jauron, Fairchild, and Schonert figured it out and really started out rebuilding his game from the ground up.

I wonder if Patrick Ramsey had been handled the way Fairchild and Schonert have handled JP he might be a solid NFL starter by now.

another load of crap. The only thing that was clear is that he has the skills...whether or not he was ever going to be able to use them effectively could not be known and the jury is still out for the long term...but things are looking a lot better.
