CB Clements’ stock likely has risen out of Bills’ price range Buffalo We hear that CB Nate Clements’ strong play in recent weeks virtually assures the fact that he’ll be leaving the Bills via free agency this coming offseason. We hear that the agreement between the Bills and Clements that the team would not use the franchise tag on the 27-year-old for a second consecutive year was written into Clements’ one-year contract for 2006. As a result, the Bills must decide whether they’re willing to make Clements, who boasts excellent size, speed and playmaking ability and was a Pro Bowler after the ’04 season, one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the game, or allow him to leave. We hear that a number of teams are already lining up to make a run at Clements if he hits the open market. Word is the Bills and Clements have had preliminary discussions regarding a new deal, but that they were so far apart they decided that any further discussion would be a waste of time. With needs at several positions, we hear it’s unlikely that the Bills will break the bank for one player. Sure some have already predicted it, but if this is in fact true, then it should be expected that Nate will be gone to the highest bidder. With any luck, youbouty will be ready for the start of next season. Otherwise, bring in a stopgap veteran to pair up with mcgee until youbouty is ready to take over. |

Re: NC a definite goner?
Honestly its not that bad. Losing Nate sucks. But if you didnt see this coming youre blind.
Honestly signing a vet for a year or two is really more practical.

Nate will be the highest paid corner in the NFL after this season. No chance we are the ones paying him.

id like him to stay but hes absolutely gonesville. its crystal clear marv is building a character based team and that includes not inducing strife with break-the-bank players
unless nate is willing to take less than rediculous market value he wont stay. and nate doesnt seem to bleed nearly enough blue to be open to that. just aint gonna happenOne set of rules for all in the beloved community

If true, Im pissed. Its more of the same crap that has made us mediocre. When your unwilling to pay for top talent, you have no top talent, and are mediocre. Yes, thats a gross simplification but the logic is there.
Its a big mistake in my opinion. Letting Nate leave exopses a whole new problem that we dont currently have, thats heading in the wrong direction. We should be fixing issues, not making more.

Nate will take the money from Snyder, and end up watching his former team mates in the playoffs next year.YardRat Wall of Fame
