What would be your FAcy plan for the Bills as of now?

Considering FAcy only and not the draft, given our holes, whom would you sign that we could easily squeeze into the cap room that we have.

Part of this analysis would be to trade or keep Price. What we get for him doesn't matter for this exercise since the draft isn't being taken into consideration.

What would be your final defensive starting lineup?

Assume that the offense is set at:

Bledsoe, Centers or Crosby, Henry, Moulds, Price or Reed, Moore, Jennings, Brown, Teague, Sullivan, and Williams.

    My moves would be to:

    Sign:

LB: Spikes or Peterson (definitely spend some big bucks there)

DT: Sign Thornton for a moderate amount of cash.

DE: Sign Lance Johnstone for a moderate or less amt. of cash. or Scioli if we have a little more.

S: If possible, grab a S, McKnight maybe or another.

    Defensive SLU:

    LDE: Schobel or Jones
    RDE: Johnstone
    DTs: PW and Thornton
    WLB: Spikes or Peterson
    MLB: Fletcher
    SLB: Posey
    CBs: AW, NC, (NB: Thomas)
Ss: Prioleau, Wire, or McKnight or other pickup or draftee.

The only caveat w/ that scenario is that either Schobel or Johnstone would have to move to the LDE side.

I think this would give us a very formidable defense.

Not sure what side Jones plays. Anyone know?
Replace Donahoe with Modrak and fire the entire coaching staff!

    Then let's go to Disneyworld!

    GO BILLS!!!

        MARCUS JONES:
A veteran pass rushing specialist who has experience playing at every position across the defensive line ... Ranks seventh on the club's all-time sack list with 24 career sacks ... Savvy talent who has unmatched power and speed ... Lined up at LDE in 2001 to make room for Simeon Rice after playing on the right side the prior two seasons (1999-2000) ... Has started in 31 of his last 32 regular season games ... Had just 32 tackles and one sack in his first three NFL seasons, but can boast 125 tackles and 23 sacks in his last three seasons (1999-2001) ... Has totaled 157 career tackles, 24 sacks, five passes defensed, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles ... Has seen action in 84 career games with 39 starts

Jones plays both... He struggled a bit in 2001 when he was moved to LE with only 3 sacks (the previous year he had 13 sacks from RE), but he had some nagging injuries and was never quite healthy that season.

          The ideal would be for

          RE Schobel
          UT Williams
          DT Adams/Washington/Traylor/McGlockton
LE Jones/or other FA, Draft pick
          SLB Posey/some rookie
          MLB Fletcher
          WLB Spikes/Peterson
          CB Winfield/Clements
          SS Wire
FS anyone other than Prioleau (Jackson, a rookie, anyone)

However... this will be hard to swing as long as Price in on the team.

furthermore Jones has played some DT in the NFL (and was a DT in college)... so he's big enough to be a LE for our "unbalanced" line... furthermore he is (when healthy) much quicker than any of the guys currently on our team or I've seen mentioned outside of Douglas...

Don't understand why you like Traylor, Washington, and McGlockton so much Ing.

Traylor and McG will be 34 this season, TW will be 35. All three are in that heavy lugging mode where age really begins to take a toll on them and TW and Traylor have clearly slowed somewhat.

If it'd be for a one year fix, then fine, but none of those guys would likely last more than a year or two before we'd cut them. Even Adams wasn't the same last year for whatever reason.

I like the rest of you set up, but just don't think the Bills should go for the downside aging players at DT which would only be a S/T fix, arguably only for one year. I hear ya that we draft a guy, but that works if and only if we actually do. If we get to our first pick and there's a much better player available, either we shoot our plan all to hell or don't take that player.

I like looking for an up and coming DT who may cost less. We have to keep in mind that we've had nothing at DT. So even a proven and seasoned starter would be huge, even if that isn't a pro-bowl player. The step up from Office, Edwards, or Robertson is a big one.

Ok I didn't look at any other posts. So this is what I would do.

                          1. I would give PP until Friday to get a trade done. Than if no trade was done I would either trade him to the highest bidder (TD said there was other interested). If no trade I would remove the tag and take back my $5milllion.

                          2. I would make an offer to Cincy for Spikes not because he is a Big name, but I feel he is the best LB out there. I would give them 24 hours to decide of I would pull the offer and make a hard run at Peterson. Even if I had to over pay a little more at this point to sercure him.

                          3. I would go get Thorton from Tenn. Longer career head of him than Adams.

                          4.Resign Hollis.

5.Go get a WR, either K. Dyson or L. Coles.

                          6. Any money leftover would go to the June 1 cuts after I reevaluated my team, see how the draft went and how the DE's I pick up look like?
