View Full Version : What are we gonna do without Clements??

So most of the argument has been whether or not we should keep Clements.

Assuming he leaves...what can possibly be done to fill that hole?

My main concern? - Nate is 6'0" and 210 pounds.
Everybody else?
Kiwaukee Thomas -- 5'11" and 192 pounds.
TMac -- 5'9" and 195 pounds
Jabari Greer -- 5'11" and 169 pounds.
Youboty -- 5'11" and 189 pounds.

----------------------------------------------------

Ko Simpson -- 6'1" and 201 pounds.
Matt Bowen -- 6'1" and 203 pounds.
Donte Whitner -- 5'11" and 205 pounds.

----------------------------------------------------

I am not advocating that we move Simpson/Whitner to CB. I was just listing their sizes for reference...

So basically, almost all of our current CBs are bound to get pushed around because by big WRs because of their small size...Big WRs are especially gonna make a joke out of McGee and Greer - as we have already seen in the past.

A rookie CB, IMO, won't be able to fill Nate's shoes without being a liability. And liabilities will cost us WINS.

The free-agent market for CBs is gonna be very thin. Asante Samuel?? If he doesn't stay with the Patriots, he is gonna cost A LOT. If you wanna forget about Nate, forget about Samuel too.

Besdies, good corners barely ever come around. If we get a #1 CB in free-agency, we will have to overpay. Did you see the way Ty Law took his sweet time to sign with a team this off-season?

IMO, I think the only option is moving Kiwuakee Thomas to 1st CB. If he can get stronger in the off-season, I think he will be the best option.

Whoever wants Nate to leave - IMO, you WILL miss him dearly.

By the way...I don't know how accurate this list is. Just found it online:

If Nate leaves the Bills will LIKELY simply sign and/or use a current player as a stop gap for a season or two.

Youboty isnt #1 material yet, but I believe he has the potential.

Well since we have the fund to resign Nate, if we don't it's either because Ralph went cheap ass on us or Clements decided he didn't wants to leave.

Maybe Nate should call Jay McKee and ask him how things are going.

That list isnt up to date as far as he is concerned. Ricky Manning Jr signed like a 5 year 21 million dollar deal with the Bears.

I hope we can sign both Nate and London. I'm sure Marv and The Older Man want to also, so if the don't, there must be good reason (they're not stupid). Just like when we lost Winfield, we'll have to have someone step up and fill in for Nate. Unfortunately, McGee can't do it because of his physical attributes, and the other guys are too young, so they'd probably just sign some veteran free agent. Hopefully it doesn't come to that and we can sign him though.

Well the Bills and London have already begun negotiations, hopefully that is eventful. I know Fletcher is a favorite of Ralphs.

As far as Nate goes I simply hope Marv brings in a solid player to replace him because we wont be able to sign him.

if they get fletcher signed soon, then nate should be number one priority over anything else.. he is huge to this defense and he is every bit as good and as much of a part of the team as rhonde barber is to tampas defense when it was good.

losing nate will kill this defense.

I don't think it will kill us, hurt us yes, but we can make it without him. If we can bolster our D-line, it would take a lot of pressure off of the corners.

Are you kidding me? Do you want to know why we still were in those games with San Diego, Indy, etc? Because Clements is a LOCK DOWN corner, he reduces all the elite WR's to non-issues. The only WR who burned Clements was Roy Williams. Other than that, even last year, he did a good job on:

Chad Johnson
Marvin Harrison
Steven Jackson
Chris Chambers
Laverneus Coles

The only thing I worry about is the fact that I see Clements as a person who is just giving this extra effort to get the big money, and then cruise through his big fat contract...he was relatively non existant last season and McGee stepped up, hence why the Bills resigned McGee and tagged Clements, they weren't thinking he was worth it. But now we're screwed, we can't tag him now, and he's going to get away from the Bills with the Bills getting no reciprocation.
