Continuing a proactive approach in which they have retained several nucleus-type players with rich new deals, the Minnesota Vikings have reached agreement with Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kevin Williams on a seven-year contract extension that will make him

Wouldn't Nate's contract be based on other CB's and not what a DT just got signed for?

The thing that scares me about Nate is that I'm sure his agent will say "Look, this is the deal that Champ got..... But that was before the cap jumped the way it did over the past couple of years... So I need to be paid even higher than Champ was." I shuder to think the deals some guys are going to get this offseason.

Add that to Hutch's deal last year, and how much does Minny have tied up for two players?

The consensus around Minnesota is that the other Williams, Pat Williams, deserved the contract. It's been said he's played like the monster.

I really hope there's a chance Pat gets cut in the offseason and comes to buffalo. Talk about an instant upgrade to the run defense.

I'd rather spend big bucks on a DT than a CB. Tom Donahoe really screwed up our defense by letting Pat go. Everyone knows that the line is the foundation of the defense, NOT the secondary.
