Re: Five Coaches Deserving of COTY
I was enjoying the article until....
" Then there is this: Buffalo's last three losses? They've been by a total of five points ... to Indianapolis, San Diego and Tennessee. "
That's like saying to someone who got paralized in a car accident "at least you didn't die".

Quite possibly the worst analogy you could have picked.

Then again, it is the NFC.

Re: Five Coaches Deserving of COTY
I give Jauron credit for sticking by Losman when his predecessor, Mike Mularkey, would not. Now he knows he has a quarterback for the future. But he did more than that. He returned self-esteem to a franchise that lost it last season, and that's big.

Originally posted by RockStar36The NFC does suck. However, wasn't NO 3-13 last year? I think they were. If that is the case, going from 3-13 to 1st round playoff bye is an impressive turnaround.
They did sign a Free Agent QB who has basically carried that team and is playing awesome.
If Drew Brees went to a lot of teams, I think that coach might be up for coach of the year.
If Sean Payton did that with Aaron Brooks, I would be more impressed.

Re: Five Coaches Deserving of COTY
I will give Sean Payton lots of credit, but not "Coach of the Year" credit. The Saints signed one of the top 5 QBs in the league in free agency, and then drafted arguably the top college player available in Reggie Bush. A good chunk of NO's success is due to those acquisitions. I also would not give it to Dick Jauron. I give him more credit for Buffalo's improvement than Payton for New Orleans, but 5-11 to 7-9 or 8-8 just isn't enough of an improvement to get Coach of the Year. Just on general principle, I can't consider Bill Belichick. Iwould drop the number of COY candidates to 3: Billick, Reid and Fisher. Each of them would be a worthy winner.I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.
I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.
