I think that Payton will get it in New Orleans.

Yeah, he has done something pretty special in NO.

Then again, it is the NFC.

almost every coach in the NFL is diserving of this award in some way coaches have done a great job this year!

I was enjoying the article until....

" Then there is this: Buffalo's last three losses? They've been by a total of five points ... to Indianapolis, San Diego and Tennessee. "

That's like saying to someone who got paralized in a car accident "at least you didn't die". :ill:

Quite possibly the worst analogy you could have picked.

The NFC does suck. However, wasn't NO 3-13 last year? I think they were. If that is the case, going from 3-13 to 1st round playoff bye is an impressive turnaround.

I give Jauron credit for sticking by Losman when his predecessor, Mike Mularkey, would not. Now he knows he has a quarterback for the future. But he did more than that. He returned self-esteem to a franchise that lost it last season, and that's big.

i agree!:punk:

They did sign a Free Agent QB who has basically carried that team and is playing awesome.

If Drew Brees went to a lot of teams, I think that coach might be up for coach of the year.

If Sean Payton did that with Aaron Brooks, I would be more impressed.

I will give Sean Payton lots of credit, but not "Coach of the Year" credit. The Saints signed one of the top 5 QBs in the league in free agency, and then drafted arguably the top college player available in Reggie Bush. A good chunk of NO's success is due to those acquisitions. I also would not give it to Dick Jauron. I give him more credit for Buffalo's improvement than Payton for New Orleans, but 5-11 to 7-9 or 8-8 just isn't enough of an improvement to get Coach of the Year. Just on general principle, I can't consider Bill Belichick. Iwould drop the number of COY candidates to 3: Billick, Reid and Fisher. Each of them would be a worthy winner.

Jauron needs to eliminate his on field mistakes. However, he got the locker room back in check and that's a big accomplishment.

It's just an article of opinion. Relax.

I believe Jauron has done a good job in year #1 and can improve the team, along with his coaching next season. I've heard him on radio man up to his mistakes and he's AOK by me.

We played much better than I thought we would this year.

I agree 100%. He and his staff know all the Xs and Os of football, but when it comes to clock management, challanges, etc. he becomes braindead. Hopefully he'll work on that during the offseason. I think he needs to play more Madden.

I think "brain dead" might be a fairly big exaggeration. But there is some room for improvement in the challenges, clock management, use of timeout department. I'm absolutely thrilled with what he's done with the team's on and off the field attitude and competitiveness though. I like the vibe the new regime has going. You can tell the players really like the organization. I bet we start having a much easier time signing FAs. It'd be interesting to see what Ryan Pickett would do now if presented with ideintical offers from buffalo and GB.
