The Buffalo Bills have reached agreement with standout kicker Rian Lindell on a five-year contract extension that will keep the seven-year veteran off the unrestricted free agent market in the spring and allow the club to keep intact one of the league's best kicking tandems.

Financial details of the extension, which runs through the 2011 season, were not yet available, but the new deal is believed to be worth in the $10 million range.

Had he reached the free-agent market, Lindell, who has made all but two of his 25 field goal attempts this season, would almost certainly have fielded offers from multiple suitors.

By keeping Lindell with the long-term extension, the Bills are able to hold together a productive kicking games tandem. Punter Brian Moorman, one of the NFL leaders in net average, was named last week to the AFC Pro Bowl squad. Both veterans are solid, consistent kickers who have been successful under the often adverse conditions at home.
