More signs that Hollis is pretty much gone.

Hollis should watch out! Rian Lindell could be the Bills' next kicker.
I'd prefer Hollis...but Lindell is good and younger. :D

Good move- TD refuses to overpay for players. How is Rian on kickoffs- does he get many touchbacks?

What kind of % numbers does he have from last year?

Those are a link to his stats. In 2000 and 2001 he had some touchbacks but he had none lsat year. His kickoff numbers are simliar to Hollis. He is a decent kicker. Missed 6 kicks last year with a long of 52.

I agree with not overpaying players. Lindell is a great pickup if aquired. He really impressed me last season and his kicking percentages will only rise with a better offense leading the way. Hollis can dig elsewhere if TD can get this kid in here long term.

it is wise not to overspend, and kickers in general are high risk investments as they get older.

Looking at kickoff averages, Hollis had a few better years than Lindel early in his career. They were pretty close in average last season. Lindel kicked at least half his games in a dome. The wind outdoors can help or hurt, obviously. I like the fact that Lindel is a big man. You've got to figure he can potentially get more leverage on kickoffs than the typical 5'6" smurf kicker (Hollis). Maybe with a good strength and conditioning coach, he could get stronger.

Bring him in.
I never been big on giving kickers huge contracts. Sure they have alot of pressure and all that.
I think being a millionare is more than enough compensation for kicking the football.
I would never give a kicker more than 800k-1,000,000 a season. If we were gonna pay a kicker big money then we would have kept Christie.
I also think we have at least a year before we need to make sure we have the position stabalized for a serious run at the SB.
Let's bring Vanderjerk in. He could fill in as HC too apparently

Lindell would work...I liked Hollis but he didn't get depth...field position is too important to let teams start at the 30 or 35.
