This is one of many reasons why the Jets organization wanted him out. Although, Herm Edwards beat them to it by quitting. The Jets would have fired Edwards if he did not quit to go to KC.

He fired assistants years prior to him bolting for the KC job. He was under the gun. Plus the front office was changing.
