With general manager Marv Levy leading the front office and coach Dick Jauron having assembled a strong staff, the Buffalo Bills now have a solid foundation on which to build.

Now it’s up to owner Ralph Wilson to give Levy and Jauron the tools they need to succeed, to paraphrase John Rigas.

The Bills have an estimated $35 million of room under the league’s salary cap for next season. With defensive standouts Nate Clements and London Fletcher set to become unrestricted free agents, the excuse that the players are too costly simply won’t fly.

If the front office determines Clements and Fletcher simply aren’t worth the money being offered by other teams, Wilson needs to give Levy the ability to replace them.

Building through the draft should always be the No. 1 priority, but the Bills will have too many holes to not be a player in free agency.

Talented players will be there, Wilson just has to pony up the cash.

I'd really like to know who he's talking about with that comment.

Here comes Tony Gonzalez...

that would be a great pickup for us, even at his age.

But it will NEVER happen.

I would have no problem with that, except KC will never let him go.

Personally, I'd prefer to have someone like Shockey, if he were available of course.

Shockey?

He would not fit in a Marv team.

Op is right. Shockey is an often injured punk-*****.

Shockey is a bad ass. He's like a biker playing football. It's ok, you can admit it.

Its not just the 35 or so million under the cap the Bills/ Wilson can pony up but it's the signing bonuses to go with it. Ralph could easily sspend an additional 30-40 million in signing bonuses to bring in good talent and I doubt RW will open his pocket book that much.

It's irrelevant anyway- Shockey's not a FA, and if he was there's no way the Giants would let him get away.

I think he does roids.

Dan Graham thenOr E. Johnson. Either would pair nicely with R. Royal. But I wouldn't cry if Mr. Gonzo came to town!
