One of our top sources tells us that the Detroit Lions have reached an agreement in principle with Bears linebacker Roosevelt Colvin. Colvin would be the Lions second major defensive acquisition in five days. On Saturday, the Lions signed cornerback Dre' Bly, arguably the top coverage man on the open market. In Colvin, they've nabbed the man considered to be the top linebacker in free agency.

Lions are putting a pretty good team together 2nd overall draft pick(Rogers), Bly, Colvin, Mooch. This is a team on their way up.

As long as they don't give him a 5 year $50 million contract :)

Colvin plays Posey's posistion. I don't think the Bills were even going to pursue him

I think that rumor is wrong. Colvin never got an offer.

Colvin is also not in a rush to sign.
Lions | Colvin In Town, Not In A Rush? - from KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
March 4, 2003 5:53:22 PT The Detroit News reports the Detroit Lions will visit, as previously reported, with free agent LB Rosevelt Colvin (Bears) on Tuesday. Colvin would give the Lions a pass rusher. "First and foremost, he's an experienced guy who's been starting," coach Steve Mariucci said. "He's a different-style linebacker than some of the others." However, Colvin doesn't appear to be in a rush to sign. "He's got some other visits," Mariucci said. "We're going to get a feel for him and get to know him a little bit."
