This was a defining day in Bills history as Buffalo signed Flutie.

Had they kept him in the remainder of the '99 season, there wouldn't have been a "Miracle"

It was a move that would divide Bills fans forever never to agree on a good QB, even to this day.

I disagree.

The move didn't cause the dissention. However the QB controversy that still exists today did have an impact on fans.

Despite all of his problems and shortcomings - and recognizing that many posters seem to despise him - Flutie played with passion and helped us win a lot of games.

I have a feeling we would have been far enough ahead that Homerun Forward Lateral would never have happened with Flutie at QB. But, who knows?

I never would have believed, however, that I would be sitting here in 2007 and not seen the Bills in the playoffs since that gut wrenching loss.

You're both right, the Homerun Throwback would have never happened.

Because Buffalo would have been down by 20 points at that stage of the game had Flutie started.

The main reason that game was so close was the 9 false start penalties on the O-line. They were used to Flutie's cadence.

And yes Jan I have the same feeling as you...:ill:

Ok Miss Cleo. How much do you want for that crystal ball?

Don't forget about the fact that Flutie's magic "saved" the Buffalo Bills from moving. He brought the excitement back in Buffalo and got the fans on the bandwagon. He was fun to watch and I remember whenever he came on the field, I always thought that anything was possible. I still get pissed at Ralph and/or Wade for benching him when he took his team to the playoffs.

Oh and Doug would have taken us to the Super Bowl that year. :(

I disagree too - we have not had a good QB yet, just an adequete one.
