Even after Spikes' comeback from his hamstring ailment, it was difficult to notice him making any impact on the field. The ex-Cincinnati Bengal appeared a shell of his former self, nothing more than your average, run-of-the-mill strongside 'backer.
Despite his struggles, as each week passed in the season Spikes' contributions increased. He began returning to form in an early-December defeat against San Diego, notching nine tackles. Over the next five contests, he tallied 26 takedowns, including an 11-tackle performance at Baltimore to end the season....more (http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/articles/2007/01/bills-spikes-loose190107.html)

True.

But much of what he prints was discussed here days before by some sharp posters with very similar details.

It doesn't take much to figure where he gets his material. Browsing the boards, perhaps ?

It's pretty obvious everyone who writes about sports browses message boards. Jerry Sullivan, I think, is often guilty.

spikes aint going anywhere i dont get this want to cut every player on our team that has a chance to be a game changer sure he was slowed down a bit this year. but spikes at 90% is better then 3/4 of the league at OLB

I think Spikes' comments in that recent article on the Bills' website about Fletcher possibly departing make it pretty clear that at leat Spikes thinks that he's staying. The article was partly about Spikes' thoughts on what the defense is going to look like next year.

Also, while I agree Spikes was certainly not the same player as he used to be for most of this year, he did have 70 tackles while missing 4 games and playing very little on 3rd downs.

I wanna keep Spikes but I sure hope the real TKO shows up next year. This past year was unimpressive.
