View Full Version : Bad Experience Last Night...

Heading home on 95 north last night, my entire lane was filled with blood, guts and something tan. I thought deer at first, although it didn't look like fur. I saw the 1st batch of chunks and hit the brakes but felt the bones thud anyway. It was taking up the width and there was nowhere to go as I was passing a car. Within seconds, I saw blood splats, then more chunks. State police lights flashing behind 2 cars on the shoulder, another statey with another car about 100 yds ahead. Whatever it was, it was fresh road kill. I was sick at the thought it could have been a human. I refused to watch the news today and instead, I washed the blood off my car.....my niece was about 5 minutes behind me and said there was nothing left to it because her tires didn't thud over the bones. Then she said there was a guy laying on the ground by the police. We figured that he was either traumatized or injured himself.

Thank God my son was snoozing in the back, and my daughter was reclined in the front. I'm so glad they didn't see that even though my daughter felt the bumps. All I could say at the time was "eeeew" and "eeeew" and "eeeew"......
and maybe a few more "eeew's"! We figured out later that the dream my son thought he was having of a cat meowing, was really just my "eeew's"...

Anyone ever had an "eeew" experience like this before?

No, thank god. I have a very weak stomach and I can be an emotional wreck at times. I'm not sure what I would've done. Thankfully anytime I have seen roadkill, I've had room to move so I didn't have to drive over it. I'm sorry you had to experience that, MyBills and I'm glad I haven't experienced it. :phew:

We hit a rabbit once coming back from London Ontario to Toronto. He made a nice pot of stew. :hungry:

I once ran over and killed two squirrels within 100 feet of each other. Oh well. It's the dumb animals fault for running into the street.

I hit a deer. I didn't get to keep her though, I was by myself and couldn't lift her. :(

Thankfully I haven't hit and killed anything either. :phew: I hope I'm not jinxing myself by talking about it. I better stop now, just in case.

When I was a kid, we were at a carnival. The sky opened up with a lightening storm; as we were running back to our car, I saw a guy in a wheelchair get struck by lightning.

He was dead.

There is nothing worse than driving by a freshly dead skunk.

Me the cat lover...I hit a cat once, I think I crippled it's back legs...I stopped to look for a nearby house...it was at night....no house lights around in farm country...even if I had scoped one out to help the poor thing crying in pain.....it was useless...another car came the opposite way and finished him off. I cried like a baby and my brother (who was with me) laughed at me. :stick:

Mybills I have had a similar thing happen to me, although I didn't actually run anything over.

I was on my way home one night with a couple friends when suddenly cars began to slow down. There had been some sort of car accident, and the cops had just shown up right in front of us and began to close down the left two lanes of traffic. we were in the fast lane, so we had to pull into the second lane. As we drove by we looked to our left. I was sitting in the left window in the back, so i had the best view. As we drove by we saw a couple cars with their emergency lights blinking and a person talking to a cop. Another cop was covering a body with a sheet, thankfully he finished covering it before we could see it. As we drove about ten feet further there was a sock on the ground, but something was inside of it. We couldn't tell what. Another five feet further was a cop setting down a flare. As he lit the flare (and remember we were moving slowly because of traffic), we saw he set it down right next to a shoe. But what was that thing sticking our of it? and then we saw it. The shoe was still on the foot- but the leg had been severed from the body. THe shoe was facing the fast lane and the leg, which had been severed below the knee, was facing us , the exposed part staring us in the face; bone showing, veins sticking out, blood everywhere.

WE found out the next day that a lady had fallen from a bridge overhead and landed on the freeway, gotten hit by a car, sending her legs flying.

TO say the least, it was not a good experience, and the vision of that thing still haunts me. Hope this wasn't too much info :D

Back in the late 80's I was driving south on the Nimitz fwy near Oakland. It was about 5:30 in the morning and I was on my way to a very early flight. A guy had car troubles and had parked his car off the far left shoulder against the concrete divider. Evidently he tried to walk across all four lanes to get off and get help. There was very little traffic. There was just enough light to see him get smacked. He was airborne over the two lanes and ended up laying in the far left lane. You could tell he was a mort. Very nasty. I saw him fly over the middle two lanes, then had to avoid him as I was in the left lane. I pulled off and called for help. When I got back I found out he was dead. Must have ben 50% of the people on that flight who saw it or saw the body. Very nasty.

Gosh, I have been so fortunate. I really haven't seen any accidents happen. I've driven past ones that already did but thankfully nothing as bad as the ones you guys are describing. I'm not sure I'd be able to keep my wits about me. I'm not good in emergency situations.

One time I ran my boss over. I looked in my rear view mirror, and saw that he was still moving. So I threw it in reverse and gunned it.

I have hit the following:

Dogs, a hawk, a badger, and a family of raccoons, and many pheasants. I have almost hit numerous deer as well.

A few years ago, this crippled man began to come to my church. He was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. He lived right across the street from the church, and I lived right next to the church since my parents were the pastors.

It was a cold Wednesday night, and I was getting ready for a Christmas service, when all of the sudden i hear what sounds like two cars colliding head-on. I ran downstairs and out the front door only to see a large taxi van with it's front end smashed in, and my crippled friend Jeff laying on the road...well, what was left of him.

When he was hit, his legs were crushed by the grill, his head hit the windshiels, blowing it out, and his body flew over the top of the van and landed behind it. The van was traveling 50 MPH.

Turns out he was headed to church, using a cane. He dropped his Bible in the middle of the southbound lane, and since he was crippled, he was having trouble retrieving it. I guess he figured the 21-year old girl driving the Taxi would see him, but she didn't. There weren't any skidmarks.

My friend was stopped at a traffic light one time. A car pulled up and stopped beside her. When she looked over, she saw a Beagle dog wrapped in their front wheel well. She almost puked, and she froze (like Jaded would have)...she thinks they didn't know they hit it...it was an elderly couple...I admire and respect the elderly, but something has to be done about their DMV privys, that could have been a small child!

BTW EB, do you have a weak stomach? lol

No. In fact I have a Ph.D. in Biology...I can dissect a cat and eat a pizza at the same time (in fact I have done it). Nothing really grosses me out...just some of the thoughts expressed are a little disturbing that's all.

No it's not. Deer is yummy! :hungry:
I would have kept mine if I hadn't been by myself in the dark on a holiday when no one was around to help me.

WHen I was seven I was sitting in the front of the school bus (was in trouble) on the way back from school. We had stopped and left off an afternoon kindergater and off he went to his house. It was valentines day. The Bus started to take of, and the kid ran out in front of bus, out from the hedges that lined his front yard. I felt and heard a thwak and thump as the front tire ran over him. His valentine had blown from his hand and he he chased after it, the Bus driver did't have a chance to stop the Bus because of how he ran out of the hedges. It ws awfull, and the worse thing was being forced to wait at the seen and answer sherrifs questions for several hours before we were allowed to be with our parents.
