    Packers sign defensive tackle Hunt

GREEN BAY, Wis. (March 5, 2003 8:24 p.m. EST) - Defensive tackle Cletidus Hunt signed a six-year, $25 million contract with the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday.

Hunt's signing enabled the team to remove the transition designation that the Packers assigned to him Feb. 20 to retain his rights while contract negotiations continued.

The Packers targeted Hunt as their top offseason signing priority after the fourth-year pro had an outstanding season last year, his first as a starter.

"I think that Cletidus Hunt is at just the tip of the iceberg in regard to what he's capable of doing," coach Mike Sherman said. "I think he can be a dominant player in this league."
