Bucs' Brooks selected for FSU's Board of Trustees

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 5, 2003 7:35 p.m. EST) - Derrick Brooks, the NFL's best defensive player, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees at his former school, Florida State.

Gov. Jeb Bush selected Brooks, the star linebacker with the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to the Board of Trustees on Wednesday. The board governs the school, sets policy and hires the people who enforce that policy.

"I'm very grateful for this appointment," Brooks said. "I hope to be a positive force in the decision-making process and am taking my appointment very seriously."
