After five days of raking and shoveling the free-agency topsoil, the Broncos found themselves a Gardener.

Denver agreed to terms with former Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Daryl Gardener on Wednesday afternoon, two days after he completed his formal tour of the team's complex and less than two hours after the team announced that it had agreed to terms with former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jake Plummer.

Standing at an imposing 6-foot-6 and 295 pounds, Gardener has established himself as one of the finest run stoppers in the game during the past seven seasons.

"Daryl is a driven guy -- driven to get to the next level as far as a Super Bowl championship goes," General Manager Ted Sundquist said after meeting with Gardener on Monday. "In speaking with him (Monday), he feels like we have the nucleus here that could get that done and that he would be a great addition for us on our defensive football team to make a push towards the Super Bowl."...
