I mean, ESPN in 4 minutes can Map the stick the goal the lines and make a 3d Representation of the situation to find out if the puck is over the line stick too high and what not, ... its the only way to get conclusive image, take a screen shot, lay out all the 3d stuff, rotate the camera to where you need it.. get your answer... its simple 3d Modelling, I can Build the Ice/Boards and Glass in 5 minutes, you really only need 1/3 of the arena, the blue/goal lines, and set your cameras to the perspective of the broadcast camera
then layout sticks over the sticks on the screen grab, layout the puck etc, rotate, get your answer and be confident about it...


I will prolly pursue this more, build a model and use real world examples and then write a large article... but you guys get the idea...
