Steinberg is also the agent for Redskins defensive end Bruce Smith, and he said Smith was planning to return for another season. Smith is only three sacks short of Reggie White's all-time record, but he is expected to lose his starting job to newly signed free agent Regan Upshaw.

Smith had previously said his ``mind was made up'' to retire until Snyder talked him into reconsidering at a meeting the day after the regular season ended.

Redskins | Offer Sheet Given to Morton - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
13:03 PT: Jay Glazer, of SportsLine.com, reports the Washington Redskins have signed restricted free agent RB/KR Chad Morton (Jets) to an offer sheet that the New York Jets will have a hard time matching. The five-year, $8 million offer sheet includes a $2.5 million signing bonus. By landing a fifth-round pick in a trade with the Patriots, the Redskins would have to give that up to the Jets as compensation for Morton should the Jets not match the offer sheet.
