R. Smith would indeed be a good signing at DT. He tossed around Gandy like a kid in the Tenny game.

Grant is who we wanted a few years back in Round 2. After he was selected, TD panicked and traded up for Ryan Denney. He'd be an upgrade.

How the hell can they give Tim freakin' Anderson that high of a grade??? I have a hard time taking what that guy has to say to heart.

The Bills don't need a pass rushing DT they need Run stuffers.

The breakdown the sporting news gives on Tim Anderson is accurate:

2006 scouting report
Has maximized his physical tools. Has very good quickness and is best on the move. Is strong with good leverage and is relentless in pursuit. Can get engulfed. Must keep separation to be effective. Won’t make many big plays in the backfield.

Career data
Transactions/career notes: Selected by Buffalo Bills in third round (74th pick overall) of 2004 NFL draft. ... Signed by Bills (July 26, 2004).

I think that his ranking is not an indication of how good he is, but rather how much they dont like the other guys.

T. Sands of Oakland is monster. Not hudge on passrush but he would help with stopping the run.

Based on last season, I would agree, but the Bills are saying McCargo can switch over and play the three technique role. If he actually can, and do it well, that gives the Bills the flexibility to go in either direction in free agency/the draft.

I'm still flabbergasted to see Alvin McKinley graded out as the second best DT available this year. How sad this crop of FAs at DT must be.

i was surprised to see hollis thomas so low.. i guess his age and steriod use issue are factors in his grade.

Maybe he can, maybe he can't, but the size is what you need. You need big fat bodies to clog up the middle and take on extra blockers. The 315 to 325 range, big ol slobberknockers. If the Bills add that, your D will move from 28th against the run to 17, 20 range maybe higher, making your D much better.

I doubt we take any DE's in FA. I think DT will be a priority along with LB. Hargrove will be our starting DE opposite Schobel. They'll bring another rookie in to sit behing Schobel while Denney sits on Hargrove' side. Kelsay is as good as gone.

Hargrove is also a UFA. Not under contract anymore, IIRC.

That could work. Hargrove had 6.5 sacks in '05 for the rams. It seems he's a better pass rusher than kelsay as well.

I am pretty sure they'll bring him back. Kollar likes him. He cost them a draft pick and he played with a lot of intensity for the team since coming to the bills.

They didn't bring him here with the intention of letting him play 10 games and than walking. He's not going anywhere.

I'm not sure I agree with the grading, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned anything about Keith Traylor. He used to pair up with Big Ted in Chicago and were formidable run stuffers. That was long ago, but how bad could he be as a stop gap for another year or two? He may have some juice left in the tank. If you want a real run stuffer, The Tractor was of the originals.

For DE, I say you either go Kerney (what a coup that would be) or give Hargrove another shot and for DT, it looks like we are going to have to see how McCargo fares with Triplett. I'd rather give Ron Edwards another shot than go with Anderson again. The one guy I saw who looks appealing but I know nothing about is Kenderick Allen. Anyone have a read on him?

he is a restricted FA, not unrestricted. he is here for at least another year.

If they do move McCargo to compete/split time with Williams at one DL position, then they still need to find someone to back-up Tripplett. Okoye could be a good pick then as he could learn for a little while and eventually be a possible upgrade to Tripplett. Depth is important in the event of an injury.

on kendrick allen -

2006 scouting report
Has outstanding size and strength. Can control the line and knock linemen back with his initial charge. Uses his hands well and pursues down the line. Lacks quickness and foot speed. Has a bull rush but few other pass-rushing moves. Can play a little high and lose leverage. Basically is a two-down player.

Career data
Transactions/career notes: Signed as non-drafted free agent by New Orleans Saints (May 2, 2003). ... Claimed on waivers by New York Giants (September 6, 2004). ... Granted free agency (March 11, 2006). ... Signed by Green Bay Packers (April 26, 2006).

sounds like he would be a good fit for what we need.. a run stuffer on the first two downs then mccargo and tripplet on passing downs.
