Nick Harper was realistic enough to recognize that he wasn't about to go directly from tiny Fort Valley State University to the NFL. So if it took a stop in Canada to refine his skills and get noticed, he was all for it.
After a standout season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2000, the Colts scooped Harper up and he as emerged as a force among the Indy defensive backs.
"I think going up there got me over that hump," Harper said. "Canada gave me a little bit of time to develop. I was a tremendous year up there."
